  • Patent number: 7277114
Abstract: A photographic printer is loaded with two webs of photographic paper, and produces photographic prints by exposure thereto. Initially, the photographic paper is advanced from two photographic paper rolls in parallel. Those two are combined together to constitute a photographic paper roll unit. The photographic paper is cut to obtain photographic paper sheets, on which an image frame is formed. In one embodiment, the photographic paper roll unit includes a single axial core which extends through axial holes of the two photographic paper rolls positioned at an interval L1, and is fitted thereon. The photographic paper rolls include a spliced region for splicing two consecutive photographic paper strips to one another. The spliced region is detected from a single one of the two photographic paper rolls in combination.

  • Patent number: 7236736
Abstract: A printer-processor is provided with a paper feed path that is constituted of a plural number of pairs of conveyer rollers, and a feedback path that branches off the paper feed path to feed a sheet of recording paper back to an upstream position of the paper feed path that is placed before an image recording section. For both-side printing, the paper sheet is first conveyed in a forward direction through the image recording section, to record an image on one side. After being conveyed further in the forward direction along the paper feed path to go past a branching section to the feedback path, the paper sheet is conveyed backward into the feedback path. Thus, the conveying direction through the image recording section is unchanged regardless of which side of the paper sheet is served for the image recording.

  • Patent number: 7230672
Abstract: A movable guide is switchable between a guide position for regulating a flexure of a cut paper, and a release position for allowing the flexure of the cut paper. The movable guide is disposed between an exposure feed-roller pair and a guiding/carrying roller pair, which is switchable between a nip state for nipping the cut paper and a release state for releasing the nip thereof. When an anterior end of the cut paper reaches the guiding/carrying roller pair during image recording, this roller pair is changed from the release state to the nip state. A speed of the cut paper carried by the guiding/carrying roller pair is reduced. After that, rotation of the guiding/carrying roller pair is accelerated to carry the cut paper.

  • Patent number: 7224500
Abstract: A CCD scanner is provided with a regulating circuit, which stores electric-current set values of LED elements of respective colors. The regulating circuit also stores desired values corresponding to optimum light amounts of the LED elements of the respective colors. By utilizing the electric-current set value and the desired value, binary search is performed for the LED elements every color. During the binary search, the light amount of the LED element is regulated, and an electric-current value thereof is determined so as to obtain the optimum light amount. By using the determined electric-current value, the LED element is turned on to read an image.

  • Patent number: 7099047
Abstract: In an image scanner, an optical image is formed on a CCD image sensor through a lens unit from rays traveling through a picture frame placed in a film carrier, so image signals are picked up from the picture frame. The image signals are corrected with shading correction data that are read out from a memory in accordance with the magnification of the lens unit. The memory previously stores shading correction data for frequently used magnification steps. Shading correction data for less frequently used magnification are previously stored in a hard disc. If the lens unit is set at a magnification for which the memory does not store suitable shading correction data, the suitable shading correction data are read out from the hard disc, and written on the memory.

  • Patent number: 7031605
Abstract: A negative film setter has film holders for having set therein films to be fed. Each of the film holders has both a detecting sensor for detecting whether a film is set therein and a lamp which is lit when a film is set in a film holder and which is not lit when a film is not set therein. Therefore, a user can determine at a glance whether or not films are set in the film holders, thus allowing the user to skillfully set a plurality of films at film setting sections. Accordingly, due to detection by the detecting sensor, the negative film setter can recognize in which film holder a film is set, and films can be fed in a sequential order.

  • Patent number: 6985217
Abstract: An area CCD scanner (image reader) comprises an LED unit (light source), an area CCD and an image-forming lens. The LED unit includes a large number of light emitting elements of each color of blue, green, red and infrared. Light emitted from the LED unit and having passed through a photographic film is received by the area CCD and is converted into an electric signal, which is outputted as photographic image data. When the light source is inspected, a focal point of the image-forming lens is adjusted to a light emitting surface of the LED unit. Then, the LED unit is turned on without setting the photographic film to receive the light thereof with the area CCD. On the basis of the obtained electric signal, a light-emission state of the LED unit is shown on a display.

  • Publication number: 20050275712
Abstract: A passage switching section of an image recording apparatus is provided with a main outlet formed for discharging a normal-sized recording-paper sheet carried along a main passage. A sub-outlet is formed above the main outlet. A sub-passage diverges from the main passage toward the sub-outlet. A passage switching mechanism for changing the sheet passage is disposed at a bifurcation of the passages. A density measuring sensor is disposed at the sub-passage. On the basis of varied sheet information including sheet-size information, a calibration sheet for calibrating recording density of an exposing section is discharged from the sub-outlet. At this time, density of a calibration pattern of the calibration sheet is measured. It is possible to calibrate the recording density of the image recording apparatus in an unmanned state.

  • Publication number: 20050156373
Abstract: A photographic printer carries paper sheets in two rows. A skew correcting unit is disposed at a passage of the paper sheets. The skew correcting unit comprises a pre-resist roller pair, a resist roller pair, carrying guides, and pressing mechanisms for moving the carrying guides in an approaching direction to the paper sheet and in a separating direction there from. When correcting the skew of the paper sheet, the pressing mechanism is actuated to move the carrying guide toward a deflection portion of the deflected paper sheet. In virtue of this, an anterior end of the paper sheet is pressed against the resist roller pair. Even if the paper sheet has stiffness, the skew thereof is quickly and accurately corrected.

  • Publication number: 20050105144
Abstract: An imaging section of an image reading apparatus is mainly constituted of an image forming lens unit, a lens barrel, a holder plate and a CCD area scan sensor. The image forming lens unit is held in the lens barrel that is mounted to a bottom side of the holder plate. The CCD area scan sensor is mounted on a top side of the holder plate. Piezoelectric elements are mounted on the holder plate, for moving the imaging section in two directions that are orthogonal to each other, and 45 degrees to film lengthwise and widthwise directions respectively. For the pixel shift, the image forming lens unit is moved together with the CCD area scan sensor, so the required accuracy of movement is not so strict.

  • Patent number: 6891646
Abstract: The present invention discloses an image reading apparatus which enables high-speed reading of an image transmitted through a transparent material such as a photographic film or an image reflected by a reflective material. In the image reading apparatus, a transparent material such as a photographic film is first conveyed in a conveying direction thereof, and an image frame to be read is positioned at a reading position. After the image frame is positioned, light emitted from a lamp is made into slit light by a light diffusion box, a longitudinal direction of the slit light coinciding with the conveying direction of the photographic film, and the slit light is irradiated on a portion (line) to be read of the photographic film. Light transmitted through the portion of the photographic film is imaged by a lens unit onto a light-receiving surface of a line CCD (a reading sensor) which is disposed along the longitudinal direction of the photographic film.
