Patent number: 9442289Abstract: An display apparatus, for a vehicle, according to one embodiment includes a substrate housing portion, an optical unit, a turning member, and a plate-like attachment plate. The substrate housing portion contains a circuit substrate for outputting an image signal of an image to be displaced. The optical unit generates an image based on the image signal outputted from the circuit substrate and projects the generated image. The combiner is provided at one end of the optical unit, and the image is projected onto the combiner. The turning member connects the optical unit to the substrate housing portion in a freely rotatable manner. The plate-like attachment plate is used to mount the substrate housing portion to a rear-view mirror such that the optical unit is freely rotatable without coming into contact with the rear-view mirror inside a vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2014Date of Patent: September 13, 2016Assignee: JVC KENWOOD CorporationInventors: Ryo Nishima, Isao Kaneno, Yuji Tanaka, Tatsuya Sato, Motoshi Tohda, Tatsuya Mukouyama, Kouichi Kawamura, Kazutaka Aboshi, Manabu Kobayashi

Patent number: 8743299Abstract: A projection display apparatus comprises a reflective LC display device and a polarizing beam splitter having a polarizing separative plane and wired grids. The LC molecules of the device are aligned such that i) a segment on a second subtracted, produced by projecting a major axis of each LC molecule perpendicularly onto the second substrate, makes an angle of 42 to 48 degrees counterclockwise or counterclockwise in relation to a direction of a straight line on the second substrate, formed by projecting each wire grid perpendicularly onto the second substrate and ii) of both ends of the segment, one end meeting an end of each LC molecule, which is positioned nearer to the second substrate than the other end, is positioned nearer to an intersection at which a plane including the polarizing separative plane and a plane including the second substrate mutually intersects, than the other end of the segment.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 2010Date of Patent: June 3, 2014Assignee: JVC Kenwood CorporationInventors: Shigeo Shimizu, Tatsuya Mukouyama

Publication number: 20120162614Abstract: A light source device includes excitation light sources integrated into a module and each emitting excitation light. A beam splitter optical system splits the excitation light from the excitation light sources into first, second, and third portions. A first fluorescent member emits red light in response to the first portion of the excitation light through fluorescence. A second fluorescent member emits green light in response to the second portion of the excitation light through fluorescence. A third fluorescent member emits blue light in response to the third portion of the excitation light through fluorescence. A combining optical system combines the red light, the green light, and the blue light.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 27, 2011Publication date: June 28, 2012Applicant: JVC KENWOOD CorporationInventors: Tatsuru Kobayashi, Tatsuya Mukouyama, Motoshi Tohda

Patent number: 6067176Abstract: A projection-type displaying apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus has a coupling prism, a glass substrate joined to the coupling prism and a liquid crystal display panel containing pixel electrodes. A refractive index of the coupling prism is greater than a refractive index of the glass substrate. The apparatus also has a transmission-type holographic color filter provided between the glass substrate and liquid crystal display panel. Light beams enter the apparatus through the plane of incidence of the coupling prism and go through the glass substrate. The light beams are then focused onto the pixel electrodes by the holographic color filter. The focused light beams are modulated by the pixel electrodes and exit the apparatus as projection light beams.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 1998Date of Patent: May 23, 2000Assignee: Victor Company of Japan, Ltd.Inventors: Tatsuya Mukouyama, Tetsuji Suzuki
