    Abstract: A method of manufacturing gloss coated paper by applying a coating composition containing a pigment and an adhesive on base paper. The pigment contains 5 to 40% by weight of satin white with an average particle diameter of 0.8 .mu.m or below and an organic pigment with an average particle diameter of 0.1 to 1.0 .mu.m and a glass transition point (Tg) of 40.degree. C. or above. The weight ratio of the satin white to the organic pigment is from 0.2/1 to 5/1. The coating composition provides a coated paper with excellent gloss and smoothness.
