  • Patent number: 8604383
Abstract: This laser processing method irradiates a substrate 4 with laser light L while locating a light-converging point P within the substrate 4, so as to form a quality modified region 71 to become a starting point region for cutting within the substrate 4 along a line to cut 5. Here, the laser light L is oscillated pulsewise along a desirable part RP in the line to cut 5, and continuously in a predetermined part RC in the line to cut 5. Consequently, the quality modified region 71 is formed within the substrate 4 along the desirable part RP in the line to cut 5, whereas no quality modified region 71 is formed within the substrate 4 along the predetermined part RC in the line to cut 5.

  • Publication number: 20130304335
Abstract: Provided herein is a unit and method to assist the driver with brake operation and to lessen the operation burden. This vehicle deceleration control unit is provided with an engine brake that decelerates the vehicle by putting the vehicle in a state in which the power source is driven from the driven side, and when the driver holds brake operation, the deceleration caused by the engine brake is increased at a first rate. Then, once a predetermined time has elapsed after increasing the deceleration at the rise-up rate, the deceleration is increased from the deceleration at that time further at a second rate that is less than the Rise-up rate. Further, when the driver is increasing or decreasing the brake operation, i.e., does not hold the brake operation, the deceleration due to the engine brake is maintained.

  • Patent number: 8559849
Abstract: A process cartridge is detachably mountable to an electrophotographic image forming apparatus that includes a drum unit and a developing unit. The cartridge also includes a charging roller for charging a surface of a photosensitive drum by being urged and contacted to the photosensitive drum. The cartridge further includes a link engaged with an end of a rotation shaft of the charging roller, and a locking member locked with the link in a state that the charging roller is spaced from the drum for holding a spaced state of the charging roller from the drum. When the process cartridge is mounted to the apparatus, a space releasing member of the developing unit is moved by a driving force from a gear train through a connecting member, and the space releasing member releases locking between the link and the locking member, thereby ceasing the spaced state of the charging roller.

  • Publication number: 20130229666
Abstract: A projection pattern that includes a measurement pattern for measuring a distance to a target object, and a code pattern for identifying the measurement pattern is projected onto the target object. The target object onto which the projection pattern was projected is sensed. On the basis of a relationship between the measurement pattern and the code pattern in the sensed image, the projection pattern that is to be projected onto the target object after the projection pattern are changed, the code pattern is read out in the sensed image of the target object onto which the changed projection pattern was projected, and the measurement pattern is associated with it. Using the associated measurement pattern, a distance from the projection unit or the sensing unit to the target object is acquired.

  • Patent number: 8494398
Abstract: An image forming capable of operating with reliability and shortening the down time. An operation unit forms an image. A power source unit supplies electric power supplied from an external power source to the operation unit. A storing unit stores successful data which shows that the image forming apparatus has started successfully. A mode selection unit selects a first mode in which regular electric power is supplied to the operation unit at a start-up when the storing unit stores the successful data, and a second mode in which electric power smaller than the regular electric power is supplied to the operation unit at the start-up when the storing unit does not store the successful data. A power control unit controls the electric power supplied from the power source unit to the operation unit according to the mode selected by the mode selection unit.

  • Patent number: 8452488
Abstract: A memory readout system comprised of a vehicle control device and a readout device to be detachably connected to the vehicle control device. The readout device reads out dialogue information stored in a built-in nonvolatile memory in the vehicle control device when connected to the vehicle control device and a predetermined certification condition is satisfied. The vehicle control device is comprised of the built-in nonvolatile memory and a dialogue information readout unit. In particular, the nonvolatile memory has a un-rewritable area which allows a dialogue information writing, but inhibits a dialogue information deletion. The dialogue information readout unit reads out the dialogue information stored in the un-rewritable area when a password certification judges that the readout device is an authorized one, and then transfers the dialogue information to the readout device.
