  • Patent number: 5949310
Abstract: Grooves are formed on the connection faces of two dielectric base plates in a dielectric resonator. Internal conductors are provided on the inside faces. Coupling electrodes are formed on another dielectric base plate. These three dielectric base plates are connected so that the coupling electrode effects a capacity connection between the internal conductors. This arrangement permits an earth electrode (e.g., an external conductor) to be formed on almost the full exterior of the dielectric resonator, thereby preventing the reduction of the Qo of the resonator and electromagnetic field leakage.

  • Patent number: 5905420
Abstract: A dielectric filter is provided which permits one to obtain desired external coupling easily without lowering Qo of resonators. The filter comprises a dielectric block having an open end surface and a shorted end surface and provided with resonator holes. Excitation holes are formed in the block outside the resonator holes, respectively. Input/output electrodes are formed on the open end-surface. The electrodes are electrically connected with conductors formed inside the excitation holes but isolated from an outer conductor. The conductors inside the excitation holes are electrically connected with the outer conductor on the shorted end surface. The excitation holes are electromagnetically coupled to the respective adjacent resonator holes, thus providing external coupling.

  • Patent number: 5841331
Abstract: Resonance holes whose inner surfaces are covered with an inner conductor (or other inner conductor structures) are formed in a dielectric block such that the resonance holes extend between two opposing end faces. The outer surface of the dielectric block is covered with an outer conductor. Input/output electrodes are formed out of part of the outer conductor at predetermined locations on the surface of the dielectric block. A slot is formed near one end face of the dielectric block so that the inner conductors are separated by the slot into isolated parts. By means of the slot, an electrically open end of each resonator is formed at a location spaced inward from the physical end face. Thus it is possible to produce a low-cost high-performance dielectric filter in which an electrically open end is formed with high accuracy at a location spaced inward from the physical end face of a dielectric block.

  • Patent number: 5815056
Abstract: In a dielectric resonator, through holes are formed between opposing two surfaces of a dielectric block, an outer conductor is provided on an outer peripheral surface of the dielectric block, and a plurality of inner conductors are formed on the inner surfaces of the through holes, isolated by non-conducting portions where the inner conductor is not provided. Near the open end of the inner conductor of the resonator hole, a non-conducting portion is formed by partially removing the inner conductor in the axial direction, at a position opposing to an adjacent through hole, or a position near the outer conductor, so as to increase odd mode or even mode characteristic impedance near the open end, whereby inductive coupling is adjustable.

  • Patent number: 5712648
Abstract: A dielectric filter includes a dielectric block on which an external conductor is formed except for areas surrounding input and output terminals, a plurality of resonator holes of the same axial length, and input and output external coupling bores. The resonator holes and input and output external coupling bores are formed substantially in parallel with each other between a pair of opposing end faces of the dielectric block. The resonator holes are provided with internal conductors except for dielectric bases in the vicinity of openings thereof. The internal conductors are connected to the external conductor at the pair of end faces so that resonators having specific resonator lengths are constituted by the positions of open ends thereof formed by the dielectric bases. The input and output external coupling bores are provided with internal conductors.

  • Patent number: 5712604
Abstract: A single-stage dielectric band elimination filter has a dielectric block with its outer surfaces mostly covered by an outer conductor and two mutually coupled resonant lines formed therein. Each resonant line has an open end insulated from the outer conductor and a shorted end connected thereto, the open and shorted ends of the two resonant lines being oppositely oriented. A multi-stage dielectric filter has a plurality of such single-stage band elimination filters formed inside a dielectric block, each mutually adjacent pair of the single-stage band elimination filters being interdigitally coupled or combline-coupled to each other with phase shift of II/2 therebetween. The open end of a resonant line may be formed at one of the end surfaces of the dielectric block, being connected to an electrode insulated from the outer conductor, or at an annular conductor-free area formed on the inner surface of the corresponding throughhole.

  • Patent number: 5696473
Abstract: A dielectric filter has a stepped resonator hole and straight resonator holes. A portion of a short-circuited end surface of the dielectric block, corresponding to a resonator formed in the stepped resonator hole, is removed, so that the short-circuited end surface has a stepped shape defined by a step surface. Thus the stepped resonator is shorter than the straight resonators. It is thus possible to provide a filter in which the respective resonant frequencies of the resonators are substantially the same, and inner conductor-free portions in the stepped hole and straight holes may be formed at substantially the same distances from an open-circuited end surface, while still obtaining firm coupling between the resonators.

  • Patent number: 5642084
Abstract: A dielectric block having an external conductor on the outer surface and a plurality of holes with internal conductors formed therein; no internal conductors are provided near one end of each of the plurality of holes. Portions of the dielectric block and the external conductor are removed so as to obtain a dielectric resonator having desired resonator characteristics. In another embodiment, portions of the dielectric block are removed so as to bring the external conductor closer to the internal conductors thereby obtaining a dielectric resonator resonant with a desired frequency. The dielectric resonators limit leakage of electromagnetic field and do not require additional parts such as terminals and case.

  • Patent number: 5633617
Abstract: To reduce the number of components and enable the mounting work of a filter unit onto a printed substrate without using a metal case, a filter unit of three-state structure with resonators is constructed in which an electrode is formed on an inner peripheral surface of each through-hole and an outer peripheral surface of a dielectric member except for one end face, and connector terminals each composed of a pin and an insert member are inserted into opening portion of the end face of the through-holes to form a dielectric bandpass filter. An enlarged insert portion is formed in the opening portion of each through-hole so as to form a stepped portion between the insert portion and a non-insert portion. The insert member has the same configuration as that of the insert portion and is inserted and fitted in the insert portion without projecting from the end face. At the same time, the movement of the insert member toward the non-insert portion is restricted by the stepped portion.

  • Patent number: 5612654
Abstract: In a dielectric block, resonator holes have steps thereby providing a portion having a larger inner diameter and a portion having a smaller inner diameter, and the smaller inner diameter portion of each resonator hole is formed on the side of a short-circuited end surface. By forming the small inner diameter portions of the resonator holes relatively close to each other, the coupling between the two resonators becomes inductive coupling. By contrast, when small inner diameter portions are formed further apart from each other, the coupling between the two resonators becomes capacitive coupling. The coupling strength can be changed by adjusting the distance between the small inner diameter portions.
