  • Patent number: 6057881
Abstract: A system and method for performing convergence calibration, wherein the test patterns generated during the convergence procedure illuminate only one convergence sensor at a time. Since only one sensor is illuminated at a time, there is no need to switch among sensors in order to obtain sensor readings, and the sensors can share an A/D converter without such switching. Therefore, in a convergence apparatus according to the invention two or more sensor couplings are simply coupled to a shared coupling which is, in turn, coupled to the input of a shared A/D converter. Thus, no switching circuitry is required, it is not necessary to perform a sensor/sensor coupling association routine, and there is no need for a convergence subsystem memory.

  • Patent number: 5923366
Abstract: A system for performing beam convergence in video displays. The system is implemented through one or more convergence sensors, which are exposed to two distinct convergence test patterns. The first test pattern partially overlaps with one or more of the sensors to define a first covered area for each overlapped sensor, the portion of each sensor that is not overlapped defining a first uncovered area. The second test pattern overlaps the entirety of the first uncovered area for each sensor, the portion of each sensor that is not overlapped, therefore being the first covered area for each sensor. The output of the sensors when exposed to the first test pattern and the output of the sensors when exposed to the second test pattern are used to perform beam convergence calculations. The test patterns are selected in such a manner as to reduce the dynamic range requirement for the sensor output A/D converter(s).

  • Patent number: 4551849
Abstract: A speaker for the automotive audio system utilizes at least a part of a vehicle panel which constitutes a vehicle body independently of the speaker and adapted for oscillation at an audio frequency. The vehicle panel serving as a sound-producing medium comprises an inner section to be directly driven by a driver unit of the speaker and an outer section connected to the first section via a relatively flexible intermediate section. The relatively flexible intermediate section is adapted to transmit the audio frequency oscillation. The relatively flexible intermediate section serves for amplifying the magnitude of the audio frequency vibration of the vehicle panel and/or for expanding the audio frequency range to be reproduced. Especially, the relatively flexible intermediate section is adapted to improve reproduction of relatively low frequency range of audio sound.

  • Patent number: 4550428
Abstract: A driver unit for an audio speaker has a stationary component and a vibrating component associated with an automotive audio system and fixed to the vehicle panel. The stationary component is suspended from the vehicle body so that an electromagnetic section of the vibrating component is subject to a permanent magnetic field generated by the stationary component. A guide member is interposed between the stationary component and the vibrating component for guiding movement of the vibrating component in the axial direction. The guide member is adapted to restrict movement of the vibrating component in the direction perpendicular to the axial direction in order to prevent the vibrating component from being displaced laterally in relation to the permanent magnetic field.

  • Patent number: 4499340
Abstract: The driver of a speaker for an automotive audio system includes a plurality of magnetic coils wound around a common bobbin. Each of the magnetic coils is connected to one of a plurality of amplifiers each of which output an identical drive signal. By applying the common drive signal to each magnetic coil, the electromagnetic field created around the magnetic coil is enhanced approximately in proportion to the number of magnetic coils. Due to this increased electromagnetic force, a vehicle panel serving as a sound-amplifying medium can be satisfactorily and successfully driven so as to produce high-quality sound. The amplifiers are adapted to amplify the low-frequency components of the audio signal from a main amplifier.

  • Patent number: 4060441
Abstract: A releasing layer is formed on a heat resistant backing sheet and a transparent thermal bonding layer is formed on top of the releasing layer to provide a coating material. The sheet of material such as photograph is mated with the coating material. When the sheet material is a photograph its emulsion side contacts the bonding layer and is passed through a heated roller assembly to bond the bonding layer to the photograph. The backing sheet and the releasing layer are then separated from the sheet material or photograph and bonding layer.

  • Patent number: 3934256
Abstract: An apparatus for producing identification cards including a photograph of a person and written material by using electrostatic and transfer printing techniques. A photoreceptor comprising a layer of photoconductive material on a conductive supporter is charged and is exposed to an optical image of a person to form an electrostatic latent image of the person on the photoconductive material layer. An identification card material comprising a layer of dielectric material on a conductive supporter is placed on top of the photoreceptor to transfer print the electrostatic latent image from the photoreceptor to the identification card material. Toner particles are then supplied to the dielectric material layer of the identification card material to develop the electrostatic latent image thereon into a visible image. Written matter may then be entered on the identification card material, and the identification card material may be protected by lamination.
