Abstract: Disclosed is a management system, which makes it possible to securely maintain the communication between the managing apparatus (host) and the managed apparatus (device) even when a certain malfunction has occurred in the network or the server. When the device cannot receive the request sent from the host, the device changes the communication mode from the bilateral communication mode to the unilateral communication mode, and then, when it becomes possible to receive the request, the device changes the communication mode from the unilateral communication mode to the bilateral communication mode to transmit the response to the host. Further, when the host cannot transmit the request to the device, or when the host cannot receive the response to the request, the host suspends an operation for transmitting the request, and then, when it becomes possible to receive the response to the request, the host resumes the operation for transmitting the request.

Abstract: Disclosed is an image forming apparatus including: a dedicated operation input section having various function keys provided with the image forming apparatus; a connection section to connect an external operation input section having various keys with the image forming apparatus; a memory section to memorize a correspondence information table for each user, in which relationship between the various function keys of the dedicated operation input section and the various keys of the external operation input section is specified; and a control section to control an image forming operation by referring to the correspondence information table for each user memorized in the memory section when an operation input signal is inputted into the control section through the connection section from any of the various keys of the external operation input section.

Abstract: A self-diagnosis function is used to acquire information showing the state of deterioration of a hard disk device, and when the hard disk device is deteriorated, a job is executed under the control which is different from that in the case where the hard disk device is not deteriorated. For example, copying job is executed in the HDD use mode in the case of non-deterioration, and copying job is executed in the HDD non-use mode (an image memory is used) in the case of deterioration. Further, the number of retrials by an alternative sector in the case of occurrence of errors of writing in a hard disk device in the course of job execution is changed according to the state of the deterioration.

Abstract: There is described a management system, which makes it possible to cope with a plurality of communication methods without complicating the system configuration. The system includes a first managed apparatus, a second managed apparatus and a management apparatus. The management apparatus includes: a first data processing section to conduct a conversion processing between management data and common data having such a format that conforms with the first communication method and that is available for the second communication method; and a second data processing section to conduct another conversion processing between the common data and communication data having such a format that conforms with the second communication method. Further, the management apparatus employs the common data to conduct the data communication with the first managed apparatus, while employs the communication data to conduct the data communication with the second managed apparatus.
