  • Patent number: 9327767
Abstract: A structure against a side impact has a side wall of a vehicle body, the side wall including a pillar within which a reinforcement is provided, a seatback frame, and a load receiving member disposed on the seatback frame to contact with the side wall of the vehicle body and to receive an impact load when the side wall of the vehicle body is moved toward a vehicle cabin by a side impact. A high-strength area reinforced by the reinforcement to have high strength is formed in the side wall of the vehicle body. An upper area of the pillar reinforced by the reinforcement includes a lower area having a strength lower than the strength of the high-strength area is formed beneath the high-strength area. • Patent number: 9327622
Abstract: A load transfer structure includes a seatback frame, and a load receiving member disposed on the seatback frame to contact with a side wall of a vehicle body when the side wall is moved toward a vehicle cabin by a side impact. The load receiving member includes a horizontal portion extending laterally, an inclined portion extended obliquely outward and upward from an outer end of the horizontal portion, and a curved portion provided between the horizontal portion and the inclined portion and having inner and outer concave edges. A bisector of an angle between straight edges continued from both ends of the outer concave edge and a bisector of an angle between straight edges continued from both ends of the inner concave edge intersect with each other in the curved portion. Accordingly, an absorbed energy amount by the load receiving member increases.

  • Patent number: 7066531
Abstract: It is an object of the invention to provide a chassis structure for vehicles that can effectively absorb an impact. Side members extend in a longitudinal direction of a vehicle body along the sides of the vehicle body. The side members are made to buckle in the longitudinal direction upon receiving an impact. A cross member extends between the side members along the width direction of the vehicle body. Coupling rods are supported by the side members via support members. The cross member is fixed to tips of the coupling rods by bolts. When an impact exceeding a predetermined level is exerted on the cross member in the longitudinal direction, the support members are broken, whereby the cross member and coupling rods are detached from the side members.

  • Patent number: 7059667
Abstract: A combined structure of a front part of a cabin of an automobile has a dash panel and a front pillar. The dash panel is placed in the front part of the cabin, extending in the width direction of an automobile, and forms a tire house bulged inward of the cabin at both left and right lower sides. The dash panel has a panel flange extending rearward from the both edges. The front pillar is formed by a front pillar inner and a front pillar outer joined at pillar flanges where they are faced each other in the width direction. In the front pillar, the pillar flanges extending in the forward of vehicles are joined to the panel flange. The front end of the pillar flange is located more rearward than the edge of the dash panel.

  • Patent number: 6824200
Abstract: A rear side member is composed of an upper member and a lower member. A flange of the upper member and a flange of the lower member are spot-welded to each other. An end edge of the upper member and a flange of the lower member are individually spot-welded to a side sill. A flange of the lower member is spot-welded to the lower surface of the upper member. A flange of the upper member and an end edge of the lower member are spot-welded to a rear wheel house. Thus, the upper member and the lower member form a closed cross section. A side edge portion of a rear floor panel is spot-welded to the upper surface of the flange.
