  • Patent number: 4368108
Abstract: A process for electrolytic recovery of gallium or gallium and vanadium from alkaline liquors resulting from alumina production which comprises electrolysis thereof on solid electrodes at a cathodic current density of from 200 to 1,000 A/m.sup.2 voltage of 3.4 to 4.5 V, temperature of 28.degree. to 37.degree. C. in the presence of a metal introduced into said starting liquors prior to the electrolysis in an amount of 1-10 parts by weight relative to the parts by weight of gallium and forming with gallium an alloy which is not passivated under the electrolysis conditions upon a joint electrolytic reduction. The process for electrolytic recovery of gallium or gallium and vanadium concentrate from alkaline liquors is useful in the production of alumina.
