Patent number: 12630271Abstract: A system and method of providing navigational routing paths through inshore and nearshore coastal areas that include surveyed depth information and visual indications of the suitability of such paths based on particulars of the user's boat and preferences are presented. Adjustments to both an indication of the depth and the suitability of each segment of the paths are provided. Manual input of local water level observations or tide data from local tide stations may be used for such adjustments. Adjustments may be applied locally or globally, and may be provided dynamically based on changing tide information over the travel time needed to reach distant segments along the navigational routing path. Such tide information is also used to adjust contour and depth area data displayed on bathymetric contour maps on which such navigational routing paths are displayed.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2024Date of Patent: May 19, 2026Assignee: Johnson Outdoors Inc.Inventors: Taylor Clark, Thomas J. Schultz, Brian Laser, Adam Iles

Patent number: 12314050Abstract: A sonar target locking system to position a sonar assembly to maintain the sonar array of the sonar assembly pointing at a position of a user-set (desired) target even when the watercraft is rotating or moving in various motions. The sonar target locking system includes electro-mechanical assembly that can be steered electrically to maintain the sonar array pointing at the position of the desired target. The system may be activated using at least one of a foot pedal, handheld remote control, or a display of a fish finder head unit. The system may use GPS and IMU inputs to generate control signals to steer the electro-mechanical assembly to maintain the sonar array pointing at the position of the desired target.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 2021Date of Patent: May 27, 2025Assignee: Johnson Outdoors Inc.Inventors: Taylor Clark, Will Bates, Patrick Snellings, Justin Freeman

Publication number: 20230359782Abstract: A method of making and a computer readable media having data readable by a fish finder are provided. The data includes a topographical fishing map usable by the fish finder to display bathymetric information regarding a body of water, and a number of water current flow simulations. Any of the number of simulations is selectable via the user input and usable by the fish finder to display water current flow as a layer on the bathymetric information regarding a body of water. Freshwater currents or saltwater tides may be provided in certain embodiments. The method includes inputting the bathymetric information from the topographical fishing map and current flow conditions to the processor, processing a hydrodynamic or tidal modeling program and storing the water current flow simulation as a user selectable layer on the media on which the topographical fishing map is stored.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 6, 2022Publication date: November 9, 2023Applicant: Johnson Outdoors Inc.Inventors: William Mark Gibson, Taylor Clark, Thomas Joseph Schultz, Kevin Maxime Maingault

Patent number: 10977818Abstract: A method for deriving an image sensor's 3D pose estimate from a 2D scene image input includes at least one Machine Learning algorithm trained a priori to generate a 3D depth map estimate from the 2D image input, which is used in conjunction with physical attributes of the source imaging device to make an accurate estimate of the imaging device 3D location and orientation relative to the 3D content of the imaged scene. The system may optionally employ additional Machine Learning algorithms to recognize objects within the scene to further infer contextual information about the scene, such as the image sensor pose estimate relative to the floor plane or the gravity vector. The resultant refined imaging device localization data can be applied to static (picture) or dynamic (video), 2D or 3D images, and is useful in many applications, most specifically for the purposes of improving the realism and accuracy of primarily static, but also dynamic Augmented Reality (AR) applications.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 2018Date of Patent: April 13, 2021Assignee: Manor Financial, Inc.Inventors: Taylor Clark, Andrew Kemendo, Mark Shanks
