  • Patent number: 10678601
Abstract: Techniques are described for orchestrating execution of multi-step recipes. In an embodiment, a method comprises receiving a request to execute a recipe specification that defines a sequence of steps to execute for a particular recipe; responsive to receiving the request to execute the recipe specification, instantiating a set of one or more recipe-level processes; wherein each recipe-level process in the set of one or more recipe-level processes manages execution of a respective instance of the particular recipe; triggering, by each recipe-level process for the respective instance of the particular recipe managed by the recipe-level process, execution of the sequence of steps; wherein triggering execution of at least one step in the sequence of steps by a recipe-level process comprises instantiating, by the recipe-level process, a plurality of step-level processes to execute the step on a plurality of target resources in parallel.

  • Patent number: 7506034
Abstract: A network storage system includes a virtual file system (“VFS”), to manage the files of the network storage system, and a storage center that stores the files. The VFS and the storage center are separated, such that a client accesses the VFS to conduct file system operations and the client accesses the storage center to upload/download files. The client accesses the network storage system through one or more storage ports. The storage center includes a plurality of distributed object storage managers (DOSMs) and a storage cluster that includes a plurality of intelligent storage nodes. The network storage system includes additional storage centers at geographically disparate locations. The network storage system uses a multi-cast protocol to maintain file information at the DOSMs regarding files stored in the intelligent storage nodes, including files stored in disparate storage centers.

  • Publication number: 20070016909
Abstract: Optimization constraints are used to select an appropriate content item from an available group of content items which are ordered in a specific manner to facilitate the proper selection of the content item, even if the exact item desired is not present. The server is then able to insert the selected content item into the outgoing content page requested by the client. The optimization constraints can be, but are not limited to, any one of the following: communication channel performance (bandwidth), client operating system, client processor, client display capabilities, client installed software (video or audio codecs for example), and/or user preferences. A software product and method enable selective delivery of content to client devices of varying performance characteristics, including varying bandwidth, by selective filtering and inclusion of markup language content using tags demarcating optional content. An optimization constraint is used to select one of the items.
