  • Patent number: 11635379
Abstract: The present disclosure features portable wide field fluorimeter systems, e.g., in the form of low-cost mobile platforms, and methods to perform fluorometric assays to detect a change in fluorescence intensity in liquid samples, e.g., caused by the presence of a target analyte, e.g., a protein, e.g., an enzyme (e.g., ?-lactamase) expressed by a target pathogen in a liquid sample in a point-of-care setting. In some implementations, a portable system for detecting a change in fluorescence intensity in a liquid sample includes a microfluidic device, an optical assembly including an emission filter and one or more lenses, and an analyzer device that collects and processes a fluorescent signal for the detection of a target analyte produced by the target pathogen present in the liquid sample.

  • Patent number: 11547300
Abstract: Methods for evaluating micrometastases in a tissue region of a subject are described. The methods include administering to the subject a detectably effective amount of a tumor-targeted photoactivatable immunoconjugate; allowing a sufficient amount of time for the tumor-targeted photoactivatable immunoconjugate to enter micrometastases in the tissue region; illuminating the tumor-targeted photoactivatable immunoconjugate; obtaining an image of the tissue region of the subject using a fluorescent imaging device, and evaluating the micrometastases in the tissue region by conducting algorithmic analysis of the image. Methods of treating micrometastases in a tissue region of a subject are also described.

  • Publication number: 20220016436
Abstract: A low-cost light delivery system includes a light source device and a light delivery applicator. The light source device includes a light source (e.g., a light emitting diode, a laser, or the like) mounted on a passive heat sink and coupled to an optical fiber extending out of the light source device to carry a light signal. The light source device also includes a microcontroller configured to define a required irradiance to be delivered by the light signal based on a prescribed dosimetry parameter; and one or more power sources, each configured to provide power to at least one of the high powered light emitting diode and the microcontroller. The light delivery applicator can be removably connected to the optical fiber and configured to be placed proximal to an area of the patient to deliver the required irradiance of the light signal to the area of the patient.

  • Patent number: 10465226
Abstract: One aspect of the present disclosure relates to a device for detecting a target analyte in a liquid sample. The device can comprise a housing. The housing can include an inlet for receiving a liquid sample, an outlet for removing a volume of the liquid sample from the device, a filter associated with the outlet and being sized and dimensioned to retain a target analyte on a surface thereof, and a flow system comprising at least one channel that is in communication with the inlet and the outlet. At least a portion of the at least one channel can be located substantially adjacent the surface of the filter and be shaped and dimensioned to reduce the amount of unreacted fluorescent probe available to create the background interference during detection of the target analyte.

  • Patent number: 10426388
Abstract: A method for measuring differential blood oxygen saturation in a solid tumor is described that includes the steps of obtaining a first oxygenation image of a solid tumor before, during, or immediately after a administration of vascular therapy; obtaining a second oxygenation image of the solid tumor after a devascularization time period; and determining a differential blood oxygen saturation value by comparing the first oxygenation image and the second oxygenation image. The differential blood oxygen saturation value can be compared to a blood oxygen saturation necrosis value to provide a prognosis for tumor recurrence, or to guide of the tumor.
