    Abstract: A method for eliminating shadow around a support pin of an LED backlight is provided. The method includes determining a luminance value for the plurality of LEDs according to a gray level distribution of pixels around the support pin, and setting the plurality of LEDs to the luminance value. The method may also include adjusting gray levels of related pixels according to the luminance profile of pixels around the support pin.

    Abstract: A hue segmentation system and method thereof suitable for image devices are described. First, a plurality of hue segments are generated based on color data of a plurality of colors in a color gamut. Then, the area difference between the hue segments and the color gamut is calculated. If the area difference is greater than a predetermined value, the hue segmentation system searches at least one vertex among the hue segments to divide the segments for generating a plurality of additional hue segments. The above-mentioned steps are performed repeatedly until the area difference is less than the predetermined value. Thus fewer hue segments indicate the color gamut of color processing of the image devices to effectively decrease calculation times and save required memory.

In one embodiment, the backlight unit has a plurality of light emitting elements, and a control unit electrically coupled with the plurality of light emitting elements for controlling intensity of light emitting from each of the plurality of light emitting elements in response to a frame of image data applied to the plurality of pixels, wherein the control unit is configured such that when the frame of image data applied to the plurality of pixels is in a red color, a green color, or a blue color, the intensity of light from the red color, the green color, or the blue color emitting from each of the plurality of light emitting elements is adjusted to its corresponding maximal value so as to expand the red, the green, or the blue area of the color gamut of the LCD panel accordingly.

A correction system according to the present invention includes an identification unit, a correction unit, and an adjustment module. The way of correction includes following steps: firstly the identification unit receives an image color data and identifies whether the image color data is a specific or a non-specific color data. Then the correction unit corrects the specific color data for display while the non-specific color data is adjusted by the adjustment module according to the color characteristics of the image output device. Therefore, the image data to be displayed is corrected and display quality of the image output device is improved.

Further, the photo-sensors are disposed among the light emitting blocks. Herein, the photo-sensors are capable of detecting the luminous intensity of the neighboring light emitting blocks.     Abstract: The present invention relates to a system for image color correction and a method thereof. The system for image color correction includes at least a color correction module, which can correct color values to be corrected to ideal color values for giving corrected color values. In addition, the system according to the present invention corrects the color values between the corrected and the uncorrected color values, and smoothen the lightness and color transition therebetween, so that the false-contour problem is not occurred in the image with corrected colors. The system according to the present invention can further include a color interpolation module and a lookup table. According to the lookup table, a plurality of corresponding output color values of a plurality of color values of an input image could be found. Thereby, complicated correction procedures described above can be reduced, and the speed of color correction is increased as well.

    Abstract: A method for controlling luminance of divided backlight block of a liquid crystal display(LCD) includes the steps of: inputting an image; dividing the image into a plurality of blocks according to the backlight blocks; obtaining a weighted color value of each pixel by performing a weighted operation on a maximum color value of each pixel; and accumulating the weighted color values of the pixels in each block, then dividing the accumulated value by the number of the pixels in each block to get an averaged weighting value of luminance of each block. The method further includes a step of establishing a look up table stored the relationship of the plurality of the color values of the pixels and the plurality of weighted color values corresponding to the color values. The method can control the luminance of each divided backlight block of the LCD.

    Abstract: A hue correction system and a method thereof are disclosed. The hue correction system includes a segmentation unit, a processing unit, and a correction unit. The segmentation unit segments the color gamut of a color output device and a reference device respectively into a plurality of source hue pages and a plurality of reference hue pages. Or only the color gamut of the color output device is segmented into a plurality of source hue pages and a plurality of reference hue pages. The source hue pages and the reference hue pages correspond to each other. Then, the processing unit gets a plurality of hue page conversion factors from the above mentioned hue pages. At last, the correction unit corrects an input color data being input to the color output device according to the source hue pages and the hue page conversion factors.

The improved error diffusion method adopts a tone scale function to process the input gray scale image before proceeding with the halftoning (error diffusion) processing in order to improve the image darkening problem caused by the conventional error diffusion method and a noise correction process to eliminate the background noises resulted from the accumulated error of the conventional error diffusion method. The proceeding of the tone scaling process and the halftoning process are parallel with the correction process so that errors generated in either one will not affect the other.
