  • Publication number: 20090130042
Abstract: The invention is directed to a topical composition suitable to control sweat. The composition comprises a low HLB lipid and a silicone oil whereby the composition has at least one metastable phase formed during topical application to the skin. The composition does not interfere with thermoregulation of the body, and yields a quantifiable cooling effect when applied.

  • Publication number: 20090062169
Abstract: An iridescent continuous phase soap bar with an ordered layered microstructure containing soap, water and specific ethoxylated alcohols is described. The phenomena of continuous phase iridescence in a soap bar is characterised as blue hue which intensity depends on the viewing angle and on the background color used for its observation by the user. In a preferred embodiment, the iridescent soap bar is prepared with mixing equipment capable of creating intensive mass shearing conditions and which generate high compression and extensional forces on the processed soap mass.

  • Patent number: 7417014
Abstract: A liquid or flowable cleansing composition is described that contains high levels of anionic and nonionic surfactants and that show a substantial increase in viscosity upon dilution with water. The cleansing composition also contains water soluble EO/PO block copolymer(s).
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 13, 2006
Date of Patent: August 26, 2008
    Assignee: Conopco, Inc.
Inventors: Teanoosh Moaddel, Syed Husain Abbas, Kimberly Ozkan-Bal
  • Patent number: 7351682
Abstract: The invention discloses bar compositions which are milder than soap but have squeaky feel or rinse associated with soap. This is accomplished by ensuring at least a certain portion (at least 1%), or all, of the soluble surfactant system is ion-sensitive. Further, soluble soap comprises less than 1% by wt. of bar, which helps produce a less alkaline pH bar while allowing squeaky feel to be produced.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 8, 2005
Date of Patent: April 1, 2008
Assignee: Unilever Home & Personal Care USA, division of Conopco, Inc.

  • Publication number: 20070066501
Abstract: The invention discloses process for enhancing squeaky feel by reducing or eliminating surfactant micelles on dilution. The present invention focuses, for example, on the relationship between counter-ion (e.g., cation, preferably salt cation) and surfactant. Specifically, it has been found that enhancing the precipitation of counter-ion-surfactant complex helps reduce surfactant micellar concentration, reduce surface tension and lead to enhanced “squeaky” feel. The precipitation can in turn be promoted by enhancing surfactant counter-ion interaction, e.g., by increasing sensitivity of surfactant to counter-ion (e.g., by using long chain length hydrophobe group), and/or by preformulating additional counter-ion into the surfactant solution. Micellar structure can also be reduced or eliminated by co-blending of surfactant, using co-solvent and/or using surfactants of lower Krafft point.

  • Publication number: 20070066500
Abstract: The invention discloses compositions with enhanced squeaky feel, when rinsed in water, defined by a region of a surfactant-cation phase diagram comprising surfactant-cation precipitate and/or surfactant monomer, but substantially no surfactant micelle. The present invention focuses, for example, on the relationship between counter-ion (e.g., cation, preferably salt cation) and surfactant. Specifically, it has been found that enhancing the precipitation of counter-ion-surfactant complex helps reduce surfactant micellar concentration, enhance surface tension and lead to compositions with enhanced “squeaky” feel.
