Abstract: There is provided a method for creating a stereoscopic image sequence. The method can include capturing a sequence of static images and forming a plurality of image pairs. Each image pair can include a first image and a second image selected from the sequence of static images. Selection of the first image can be done in a manner so that the image pairs are formed a spatially coherent manner. The stereoscopic image sequence can be created based on the image pairs. Creating the stereoscopic image sequence can, for example, relate to producing a stereoscopic video.

Abstract: A method and system for distributed text-to-speech synthesis and intelligibility, and more particularly to distributed text-to-speech synthesis on handheld portable computing devices that can be used for example to generate intelligible audio prompts that help a user interact with a user interface of the handheld portable computing device. The text-to-speech distributed system 70 receives a text string from the guest devices and comprises a text analyzer 72, a prosody analyzer 74, a database 14 that the text analyzer and prosody analyzer refer to, and a speech synthesizer 80. Elements of the speech synthesizer 80 are resident on the host device and the guest device and an audio index representation of the audio file associated with the text string is produced at the host device and transmitted to the guest device for producing the audio file at the guest device.

Abstract: There is provided a data processing apparatus for segmental processing of input data. The apparatus includes a plurality of data processors connected in a series configuration, the plurality of data processors being able to transmit discrete data packets over a video bus to one another, with the plurality of data processors being divided into a plurality of data processing sets; and a central controller coupled to the plurality of data processors for controlling allocation of the input data to the plurality of data processing sets, the central controller being also for controlling transmission of output data from the apparatus. The apparatus incorporates several varying methods for data transmittal amongst data processors and has several applications which will be described.

Abstract: There is provided a method of customizing live media content with the live media content including at least one dewarped panoramic view of a monitored area. The panoramic view may have a plurality of portions for selection by a user, the method comprising: receiving the live media with audio and video interleaved and/or compressed as a single stream data, receiving a selection of one of the plurality of portions of the panoramic view; and customizing the live media based on the selection of the a portion of the panoramic view for display. A system to customize live media content is also disclosed.

Abstract: A method for replicating a media stream generated by a transmitter device. The method can include communicating world context generated at the transmitter device and processing the received world context. The generated world context is associable with description generated based on an application being run at the transmitter device. The generated world context can be based upon to generate the media stream in a manner such that description of the generated media stream can be associated with the description generated based the application being run. Processing of the received world context can be in a manner so as to replicate the media stream generated at the transmitter device. Description of the replicated media stream can correspond to the description of the media stream at the transmitter device. The received world context can be further processed in a manner so as to change the description associable with the replicated media stream.

The method may include connecting the secondary device to the host for communication between the host and the secondary device; redefining the at least one user interface element using an application running on the host; reviewing the at least one user interface element as redefined using the application (possibly including a visual preview of the at least one user interface element as redefined when viewed on the secondary device); determining whether the secondary device is able to support the at least one user interface element as redefined using the application; and incorporating the at least one user interface element redefined using the application onto the secondary device.

The data file comprises an image component for storing an image as a representation of the data file and one or more data components appended to the image component. The image component comprises metadata associated with the one or more data components. In a first mode of operation, the image component of the data file is readable for viewing the image by an image viewer while the image component is part of the data file. The one or more appended data components are unreadable by the image viewer in the first mode of operation. In a second mode of operation, the image component and the one or more appended data components are readable by a file reader.

Abstract: In a first aspect, there is provided a method for locating a position of at least one sound generating object using at least one audio pulse, with the at least one audio pulse being detected by a plurality of stationary microphones located at a first position being spaced apart by a pre-determined distance. In a second aspect, there is provided a method for locating a position of a microphone using audio pulses emitted from a plurality of sound generating objects. The at least one audio pulse may preferably be in a form of a logarithmic swept sine (LSS) signal, as the LSS signal is detectable at both low volumes and amidst background noises.
