  • Publication number: 20090323552
Abstract: Systems and methods for managing virtual collaboration systems are disclosed herein. A virtual collaboration system includes a distributor communicatively coupled to a first network and a second network having different network characteristics from the first network, the distributor configured to receive first media streams from at least one first network node, and to transmit the first media streams to at least one second network node; and a management subsystem adapted to dynamically configure a topology of a virtual collaborative event, wherein configuration of the topology includes a determination of media stream connections among the distributor and the at least one first network node based, at least in part, on at least one policy, and wherein the media stream connections establish and maintain virtual relationships among the at least one first network node and the at least one second network node.

  • Patent number: 7558823
Abstract: A system includes a communication network, a plurality of nodes communicatively coupled to the communication network, a gateway subsystem communicatively coupled to the communication network, and a management subsystem communicatively coupled to the gateway subsystem. The gateway subsystem is configured to receive and translate signals from the plurality of nodes for use by the management subsystem. Further, the management subsystem is configured to dynamically manage the topology of a virtual collaborative event based on the node signals.

  • Publication number: 20090058986
Abstract: A method of measuring video latency between a sender and a receiver in a video conference system is disclosed. In an embodiment, the method includes initiating an electrical signal from a first location in a video conference system, transmitting the electrical signal through the video components of the video conference system, reflecting the electrical signal back through the video components of the video conference system and measuring the latency of the electrical signal at the first location related to the transmission and reflection of the electrical signal.

  • Publication number: 20070279484
Abstract: A method is described for initiating and controlling a video conference between multiple video conference studios. A virtual meeting space is defined within a user interface comprising icons representing selected remote studios in geometric positions that mimic the locations of separate live video images coming from the selected remote studios, enabling participants in the local studio to naturally associate the live video images with the icons representing the remote studios.

  • Patent number: 5710968
Abstract: A dual path sheet feeder is disclosed including a bypass transport loop and a main transport loop for selectively delivering sheets from a sheet feeding module to either a printer processing module or to a finishing module, wherein a movable gate situated adjacent to the bypass transport loop is provided for directing sheets along a predetermined path of travel. The movable gate is selectively positionable between a first position for directing the sheets through the main transport loop to the processing module to produce copy sheets prior to delivering the copy sheets to the finishing module and a second position for directing the sheets through the bypass transport loop to deliver insert sheets directly to the finishing module, circumventing the processing module.

  • Patent number: 5195689
Abstract: A binding tape cartridge in which a reel of binding tape is packaged in a moisture impervious bag. The bag has an exit port through which the tape is advanced. A seal, mounted in the exit port, permits the passage of tape therethrough while maintaining the interior substantially dry. This projects the binding tape from moisture, reducing the possibility of tape delamination.

  • Patent number: 5090683
Abstract: A device for selectively turning documents includes first and second drive rollers aligned along an axis which is transverse to a process direction along which documents are fed, and first and second follower rollers cooperatively peripherally aligned with the first and second drive rollers, respectively. One of the drive rollers is operated at a substantially constant peripheral velocity by a first drive which is a constant velocity motor while the other drive roller is operated at a variable peripheral velocity by a variable speed drive so that the document is turned. Thus, only a single variable speed drive, such as, for example a stepper motor or servo system, is required. The variable speed drive is driven through a variable velocity profile to control the amount of rotation of the document. Preferably the document is turned approximately 90.degree..

  • Patent number: 5046678
Abstract: A reel on which a supply of binding tape is mounted. The reel has a hub adapted to be mounted on a shaft with at least one flange extending radially outwardly therefrom. The flange is adapted to engage a braking member to maintain the binding tape unwinding from the reel under tension as the reel rotates. The flange is mounted in a core of the reel with a pair of opposed, spaced frames extending radially outwardly from the core. The binding tape is wound about the core between the frames. A tape cleaning tool is molded integrally with the hub. The tool is molded operator removable from the hub and facilitates cleaning of the tape guides during routine maintenance.
