Abstract: Methods and apparatus for providing multiple transaction cards in a single package are disclosed. According to one aspect, a method for forming a carrier package arrangement includes obtaining a plurality of transaction cards, obtaining a first parent activation code, and associating the first parent activation code with the plurality of transaction cards. The method can also include packing the plurality of transaction cards in the carrier package arrangement, and providing the first parent activation code so as to be on or accessible from the carrier package arrangement. The plurality of transaction cards can thereafter be activated using the first parent activation code.

Abstract: Gift card carriers are disclosed. More particularly, a first aspect pertains to a gift card carrier that also operates as a greeting card. In a first folded configuration, the gift card carrier presents the gift card for purchase. In a second folded configuration, the gift card carrier acts like a greeting card that encloses the gift card, and possibly supplies a greeting or message. A second aspect pertains to a gift card carrier with a depression for receiving a gift card therein. The depression may make the gift card appear as if its flush mounted within a panel of the gift card carrier. A third aspect pertains to a gift card carrier with an image of hardware device that includes a display, and a gift card that includes an image associated with the hardware device. The gift card is positioned over the display region of the hardware device image making it appear as if the gift card is the display, and the image thereon is being displayed.

It will be appreciated that the submission and verification techniques can, among other things, automate the submission and verification of redemption codes for various redeemable instruments, including transaction cards (e.g., gift or prepaid cards) widely used for online transactions (e.g., purchase of media items from an online media store). A redemption code can be determined based on an image of a redeemable instrument. More particularly, an image of a redeemable instrument can be processed using image analysis or one or more image processing techniques to extract a redemption code for the redeemable instrument. By way of example, an image (e.g., a digital picture) of a gift card can be processed by a device to extract an alphanumeric value printed on the gift card. This means that the alphanumeric value need not be entered manually by a person seeking to redeem the redeemable instrument (e.g., gift card).

According to one aspect, a transaction card includes a first surface and a second surface that substantially opposes the first surface. The second surface has a magnetic stripe. A first representation of a first pattern and a second representation of the first pattern can be encoded on the magnetic stripe. In one embodiment, the first representation can be encoded beginning at approximately a first distance from a first edge of the second surface, and the second representation can be encoded to within approximately the first distance from a second edge of the second surface.
