  • Patent number: 10895257
Abstract: A gerotor pump assembly, and a system and method for operating a gerotor pump assembly, result in a lubrication strategy for operating in a loss-of-prime mode. An inner drive gear may be rotated in a first direction and in a second opposite direction about an axis of rotation. The inner drive gear has a number of projections extending outwardly therefrom. An outer driven gear surrounds the inner drive gear and defines a number of recessions along an inner surface configured to engage with the projections of the inner drive gear. The outer driven gear and the inner drive gear further define at least one dynamically-changing fluid cavity therebetween. The inner drive gear and the outer driven gear define an oil transfer volume clearance between a projection and a recession in a fully engaged position. Oil is maintained within the oil transfer volume clearance as the inner drive gear is rotated.

  • Publication number: 20170058895
Abstract: A dual pump system for a motor vehicle transmission includes a first pump connected to and co-rotated with a pump shaft rotated during operation of a motor vehicle engine. A second pump is connected to a motor shaft of an electric motor. A one-way roller clutch is connected to the second pump and to the pump shaft. The one-way roller clutch is configured to allow the faster rotated one of the pump shaft or the motor shaft to drive the second pump. The pump shaft and the motor shaft can be co-axially aligned or positioned off-axis with respect to each other.

  • Patent number: 7748499
Abstract: A lubrication flow control mechanism for a power transmission includes a bearing member and a spring biasing the bearing member in a direction. The bearing member and the spring cooperate to sufficiently restrict flow past the bearing to cause increased fluid flow to a lubrication-requiring member located downstream of the bearing. A method of limiting lubrication flow in a transmission is also provided.

  • Patent number: 7644639
Abstract: A transmission is provided having a dual clutch, to achieve torque flow through a countershaft gearing arrangement. The countershaft gearing arrangement includes a plurality of co-planar gear sets having gears that are selectively connectable to a plurality of countershafts. At least one transfer gear set transfers torque from the counter shafts to an output shaft. The output shaft is connected to a final drive unit that has a final drive unit output shaft that is transverse to an input member connected at one end to a torque converter and at the other end to the dual clutch.
