Abstract: Concepts and technologies are disclosed herein for test simulation for software defined networking environments. A computing device can receive a service request comprising a request to instantiate a service and create a service order based on the service request. The service order can include instructions to instantiate the service. The computing device can replicate the service order to obtain a replicated service order that includes instructions to instantiate a replicated service in a test environment, test paths and connections associated with the replicated service within the test environment using a test simulator, test device outage handling functionality of the replicated service within the test environment using the test simulator, test network outage handling functionality of the replicated service within the test environment using the test simulator, verify the replicated service, and initiate instantiation of the service requested by the service request.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing automatic processing of an alarm related to a multicast service in a network are disclosed. For example, the method receives an alarm related to a multicast service, and retrieves multicast data, wherein said multicast data comprises one or more of: a source Internet Protocol (IP) address for a source, a group IP address, and Protocol Independent Multicast (PIM) data. The method retrieves interface information, wherein the interface information comprises one or more of: an interface IP address, a PIM mode, and a Designated Router (DR) IP address. The method retrieves a status of a neighbor of the source in accordance with the source IP address, and determines if a neighbor is established for the source IP address.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to validating a rules-based diagnostic system for a network. Emulated data for use by the rules-based diagnostic system can be generated that includes a trouble ticket to emulate a problem associated at least one of Layer 1 and Layer 2 network services and includes network information associated with the problem. Responses from the rules-based diagnostic system can be received in response to the emulated data being processed by the rules-based diagnostic system. A log generated by the rules-based diagnostic system can be analyzed to determine rules implemented by the rules-based diagnostic system in response to the emulated data, thereby validating operation of the rules-based diagnostic system.
