Abstract: Provided are an ink jet recording paper which is provided with a recording layer having a coverage rate of from 0.1 to 10 g/m.sup.2 on at least one side of a base paper and has a basis weight of from 50 to 100 g/m.sup.2, with the recording paper having an irreversible shrinkage factor of from -0.05% to 0.10% in the CD direction when it is put under an environment that the relative humidity thereof is raised to 95% from 35% and then lowered to 35% and further showing a shrinking rate of from 0.15% to 0.25% in the CD direction by the change in relative humidity of the environment from 75% to 60% during the process of lowering the relative humidity from 90% to 35%.

Abstract: Provided are a recording paper comprising a support paper coated on one side with a recording layer and a method of preparing the same: with the recording layer comprising 60-95 weight % of a pigment and 40-5 weight % of a water base binder and having a thickness of from 3 to 30 .mu.m; wherein the surface roughness by ten point height on the recording layer surface is from 1 .mu.m to 4 .mu.m, the specular glossiness the recording layer surface at 75 degrees according to JIS P8142 is from 70% to 100%, and the part extending to the depth of at least 3 .mu.m below the top surface has a hole distribution curve having at least peak showing an average pore diameter within the range of 0.1 to 1.0 .mu.m and a height ranging from 0.1 to 1.0 ml/g with respect to pore volume when measured with a porosimeter of mercury intrusion type.

Abstract: Disclosed is a transfer paper comprising a support coated on at least one side with a transfer layer having a thickness of not less than 3 .mu.m and at least one constituent layer; with the outermost layer of said transfer layer being a coated layer containing at least a pigment and a binder, and having in the part extending to the depth of at least 3 .mu.m below the surface the hole distribution characterized by having at least one peak which shows the average pore diameter within the range of 0.1 to 1.0 .mu.m and the height ranging from 0.1 to 1.0 ml/g with respect to the pore volume when measured with a porosimeter of mercury injection type.
