    Abstract: An orally administered adsorbent which, when orally administered to livestocks and men, is capable of effectively adsorbing and removing nitrogen-containing compounds such as creatinine and the like. The orally administered adsorbent comprises clay particles of a layered structure having a cation-exchange capacity of not smaller than 50 milliequivalent/100 g, wherein a suspension formed by dispersing the clay particles in the deionized water at a concentration of 5 (w/v)% has a pH (25° C.) of not larger than 7.0, and has a proton emission capacity EH calculated according to the following formula, EH=(B-A)×104 wherein A is a hydrogen ion concentration (g ions/L) of the above suspension, and B is a hydrogen ion concentration (g ions/L) of a suspension formed by dispersing the clay particles in a 1 wt% saline solution at a concentration of 5 (w/v)%, of not smaller than 0.5.

    Abstract: According to this invention, an amorphous or pseudo-boehmite-type hydrated alumina gel and an alkali metal carbonate or bicarbonate as starting materials are reacted in an aqueous medium to give a method of producing a process for producing an alkali aluminum complex hydroxide carbonate salt which is industrially low-cost and has high productivity. Furthermore, by using a gibbsite-type hydrated alumina, a lithium aluminum complex hydroxide carbonate salt can be synthesized by a migration method.The lithium aluminum complex hydroxide carbonate salt and the sodium aluminum complex hydroxide carbonate salt obtained by the processes of the present invention have excellent compoundability in pigments and resins.In addition, these complex salts have no foaming hazards at the time of processing the resins and are useful as resin fillers for halogen capturing property, infrared ray absorbing property and excellent transparency.

    Abstract: A process for producing a columbite-type niobate and a process for producing a niobium-containing lead-type perovskite compound using the columbite-type niobate. A precursor slurry of a columbite compound composed of a fresh niobium hydroxide, a metal acetate and ammonium aqueous solution is spray-dried, and is calcined at 500.degree. C. or higher to obtain a crystalline columbite-type compound having grain sizes of 1 .mu.m or smaller to which was then mixed a lead component. The mixture is calcined, pulverized and is sintered at a temperature of 800.degree. to 1100.degree. C. to synthesize a highly dielectric material of a niobium-containing lead-type composite perovskite. The precursor of columbite is calcined at 500.degree. to 1100.degree. C. to obtain fine columbite-type niobate crystals of grain sizes of 1 .mu.m or smaller. A lead-type perovskite compound using the above crystals can be sintered at a temperature of as low as 950.degree. C.

    Abstract: A shellfish extract concentrate is prepared by subjecting an extract of a shellfish (exclusive of oyster) having a solid concentration not higher than 30% by weight to an adsorption purification treatment with an adsorbent composed mainly of a water-insoluble inorganic magnesium compound, which has a specific surface area of at least 50 m.sup.2 /g, and concentrating the refined liquid in a substantially non-oxidizing atmosphere. In this shellfish extract concentrate, black and blackish brown coloring components are not contained, and flavor components and nutrients are not substantially lost. Accordingly, this shellfish extract concentrate is excellent in taste, flavor and hue.
