  • Publication number: 20250141086
Abstract: An antenna system includes a loop conductor and non-loop conductor configured to provide respective loop and dipole antenna functionality. A signal feed mechanism connects to both conductors at a signal feed point for simultaneous signal transceiving. The non-loop conductor comprises two elongate arms with an offset feed point creating shorter and longer arms, where the longer arm has increased width via a loop-shaped portion. When incorporated in eyewear devices, the loop-shaped portion extends circumferentially along a lens holder to retain lenses. The conductors may be configured through a diplexer for different frequency domains, with the non-loop conductor serving as a GPS antenna and the loop conductor as a data communication antenna. The radiation patterns of the conductors may be substantially orthogonal when driven by the signal feed mechanism. The system provides integrated antenna and mechanical functionality in wearable devices.

The head-mounted housing may have a housing wall forming cavities containing the display projectors and waveguides. A moisture-impermeable cover may be used to cover and protect each of the display projectors. The cover may be formed from an elastomeric sock. The sock may have an opening that allows the display projector to emit image light that is received by a corresponding one of waveguides. Partitions may also be formed in the housing to block moisture and other contaminants. An elastomeric gasket or bellows serving as a partition may be used to separate a display projector cavity from a waveguide cavity.

  • Patent number: 12216338
Abstract: Eyewear devices including a tether and methods for identifying proper installation of the tether are disclosed. An eyewear device includes transmission lines extending through the temples to electrical and electronic components positioned adjacent to edges of a frame. A tether is attached to the temples to enable power and communication flow between the electrical and electronic components rather than through the frame. Proper installation is identified based on communications passing between the electrical and electronic components via the tether.

  • Publication number: 20250040061
Abstract: Electronic devices may be provided that contain multiple housing portions. The housing portions may be coupled together using hinges. The hinges may include hinges based on a three-bar linkage, hinges based on a four-bar linkage, hinges with slotted members, hinges formed from flexible support structures, and hinges based on flexible housing structures. Flexible displays may be mounted to the housing portions overlapping the hinges. When the housing portions in a device are rotated relative to each other, the flexible display may bend. The hinge may be configured to allow the flexible display to be placed in a front-to-front configuration in which an active side of the display faces itself or a back-to-back configuration. Engagement structures may be used to help the housing grip external objects and to hold the housing portions together. The hinges may be provided with rotational detents to help hold the flexible display in desired positions.
