Teodor Mostior has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Patent number: 7350633
Abstract: An apply piston for a torque-transmitting mechanism in a power transmission includes a first circumferential periphery and a second circumferential periphery radially inward of the first circumferential periphery and axially displaced therefrom. The apply piston has a generally radially-extending face between the two peripheries. The two peripheries and the radially-extending face cooperate with a transmission case to form a fluid-filled chamber that is selectively expandable to direct fluid force to the piston for engagement of the torque-transmitting mechanism.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: April 1, 2008
    Assignee: General Motors Corporation
Inventors: Patrick S. Portell, Teodor Mostior
  • Patent number: 7278525
Abstract: A transmission assembly in accordance with the invention includes a plurality of torque-transmitting mechanisms. A hub member of the assembly includes a radially extending wall, and a circumferentially extending wall formed integrally with the radially extending wall. The circumferentially extending wall includes a first plurality of internal splines, a second plurality of external splines spaced with the internal splines, and a cylindrical end portion at a distal end of the hub and terminating both the internal splines and the external splines to prevent failure in high speed operations. A plurality of clutch plates associated with one of the plurality of torque-transmitting mechanisms are splined to the external splines of the hub member, and a plurality of clutch plates associated with another one of the plurality of torque-transmitting mechanisms are splined to the internal splines of the hub member.

  • Patent number: 7246693
Abstract: A piston support housing for a transmission assembly includes a plurality of axially-extending finger portions engaging a plurality of spline portions formed in a corresponding transmission case, and a plurality of friction plates are assembled adjacent the piston support housing such that the finger portions extend circumjacent peripheral edges of the friction plates. The friction plates include a plurality of torque-transmitting spline portions disposed circumferentially intermediate the finger portions. The friction plates also include a plurality of recesses disposed with one adjacent each of the finger portions to preclude contact between the finger portions and the friction plates thereby preventing torque-transmission through the finger portions to the transmission case.

  • Publication number: 20040228680
Abstract: A retaining ring apparatus includes a C-ring and a groove within a shaft. The shaft groove has a tapered edge at one side thereof and the C-ring has at least one tapered surface, which is disposed in mating relationship with the tapered surface of the groove. The retaining ring apparatus is disposed within a larger structure, which has at least one mechanism for applying an axial force to the retaining ring to ensure the mating of the tapered surfaces.
