  • Patent number: 11877762
Abstract: A retrieval device can include inwardly facing protruding features that facilitate engagement and capture of a thrombus or other mass from a body lumen of a patient. The protruding features can deploy from a frame of the retrieval device to extend radially inwardly toward an opposing side of the frame. When deployed into a thrombus, the protruding features engage and urge the thrombus as the retrieval device moves to facilitate capture.

  • Publication number: 20230248558
Abstract: Delivery systems for expandable elements, such as stents or scaffolds having spikes, flails, or other protruding features for penetrating target tissue and/or delivering drugs within a human patient are described along with associated methods for using such systems. The delivery systems can be provided with a stent that is positioned over an inflatable balloon for expansion and delivery of the stent to a target delivery location. By positioning the stent over and about the inflatable balloon, the stent is ready to be expanded by the balloon immediately upon unsheathing with respect to the outer shaft. Additionally or alternatively, a stent can be positioned in an axially offset arrangement with respect to a balloon to reduce the need for space required by overlapping components.

  • Publication number: 20230109591
Abstract: Delivery systems for expandable elements, such as stents or scaffolds are described along with associated methods for using such systems. The delivery systems can be provided with a stent and/or a balloon the is enclosed by a sheath that need not extend an entire length of the delivery system. Instead, the sheath can be coupled to a control wire for retraction and advancement of the sheath. By enclosing the stent and/or balloon with a short sheath, the profile of the delivery system is reduced.

  • Patent number: 11253379
Abstract: Expandable elements having drug-delivery features and associated systems and methods are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a drug-eluting stent includes a radially expandable cylindrical frame having a plurality of struts. The frame is transformable between a low-profile delivery state and an expanded deployed state. A plurality of drug-delivery features are carried by one of the struts and configured to deliver a drug to a treatment site within the patient or piercing through the tissue wall to break the constricting of the vessel wall inwardly. When the frame is in the expanded state within a body lumen of the patient, the drug-delivery features extend radially outwardly away from the strut and are configured to engage and, in some arrangements, pass through a wall of the body lumen.

  • Publication number: 20130116654
Abstract: An cardioplegic fluid delivery catheter includes an expandable member for occluding the ascending aorta of a patient. A length of the catheter allows the distal end to be within the ascending aorta while the proximal end extends from a peripheral artery. The delivery catheter has a multi-lumen construction with a primary lumen extending configured to allow a cardioplegic fluid to be delivered to the aorta. Secondary lumens provide for balloon inflation and aortic root pressure monitoring. The delivery catheter includes a shaft having a pre-determined curve profile at a distal end of the delivery catheter. The pre-determined curve profile generally corresponds to the curve of the bottom surface of the aortic arch. The shaft may be eccentric to the expandable member such that retraction of the shaft causes a distal tip to be parallel within the ascending aorta.
