  • Publication number: 20040046080
Abstract: In the method for changing a reel in the reel-up of a paper or paperboard machine or finishing apparatus for paper or paperboard, the cutting of a paper or paperboard web (W) and the guiding of the same on a new reel is conducted by using a tape (5) that is guided into connection with a reeling core (3). Thereafter the tape, as it is positioned on top of the reeling core, at the same time cuts the web (W) and guides the new end of the web following the cutting point around the reeling core. The tape (5) is equipped with an adhesive agent which at the moment of reel change or thereafter is brought to a state that activates the adhesive agent. At least some of the adhesion surfaces of the tape (5) are activated by means of a compression pressure between the reeling core (3) and the reeling cylinder (2).

  • Publication number: 20040041055
Abstract: Successive machine reels are reeled from a paper web (W) in such a manner that the machine reel (R) that is becoming full is reeled in contact with the device (5) forming the second reeling nip (N2) in the final reeling station apart from the device (1) forming the first reeling nip (N). A new, empty reel spool (2), around which the new machine reel will be formed after the change, is taken to the transfer device (6) and the change is conducted when the reel spool is located in the transfer device (6). The reel spool (2) and the machine reel (R) formed around the reel spool after the change is transferred by means of the transfer device (6), while in nip contact with the device (5) forming the second reeling nip (N2), away from the first nip contact (N1) loose from the device(1) forming the first reelling nip (N1) to the stationary final reeling station.

  • Patent number: 6685133
Abstract: The invention relates to a method in continuous unwinding of a paper web, in which a paper reel (3) wound on a reeling core (2) or the like is unwound by rotating the same to guide the paper web (1) to a further processing stage. The method is characterized in that the shape of the outer surface of the unwound paper reel (3) is measured with the aim of detecting the defects possibly occurring in the paper reel (3) the invention also relates to an apparatus for applying the method.

  • Patent number: 6629659
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reeling or winding of a web in which one or more factors affecting the web in the reeling or winding process are controlled by means of measurement data in order to affect the quality of the reel or roll formed in the reeling or winding process. The is measurement data used is the web tension profile of the web brought into the reeling. The web tension profile is measured by means of a measuring device from which the web tension profile data is transmitted to a data processing unit which adjusts the factors affecting the web during reeling or winding.

  • Patent number: 6626394
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus in a reeling process of a paper web. A paper web (PR) is continuously reeled around a reeling core (10) via a roll assembly (T). A first press device arrangement (8) is arranged to move with respect to the frame (16) of the reel-up and by means of the first press device arrangement (8) a first nip contact (N1) is maintained to the paper web (PR) that is being formed on the reeling core, and the first press device arrangement (8) is transferred with respect to the frame (16) of the reel-up into a nip contact (N2) with a second press device arrangement (11). According to the invention, the section of the roll assembly (T) before the first press device arrangement (8) and the first press arrangement (8) are formed as separate units. The paper web (PR) is guided immediately into nip contact (N1) in the first press device arrangement (8) via the roll assembly (T) stationary with respect to the frame (16) of the reel-up.

  • Patent number: 6536704
Abstract: In the method for controlling the structure of a reel, a continuous paper web (W) is reeled around a reel spool (2) to form a reel (R), and one or more variables are measured from the web (W). When a particular, predetermined change occurs in the variable, the lateral oscillation of the web is changed, by means of which the web is guided to different locations in the reel (R) in the axial direction of the reel spool (2). The change can be implemented by starting the oscillation or by changing the oscillation in progress. The change can be implemented on the basis of the changes in the transverse profile of the web (W).

  • Patent number: 6395135
Abstract: In the method for threading of a paper or paperboard web a narrower tail (T) separated from the paper or paperboard web (W) is conveyed between different holding points. On the travel path of the tail (T) there is at least one tension measuring device (1) which is arranged to measure the tension of the tail (T) passing by, said device (1) being connected to a data processing unit (7) which is connected to tension control means affecting the tail (T). The threading can be conducted on a tension level lower than the actual running tension of the full-width web (W).

  • Patent number: 5971315
Abstract: A method for determining the quality of the formation of a reel or roll of a paper or board web and controlling the reel or roll formation or subsequent processing of the reel or roll based on the determined quality of the formation of the reel or roll. An oscillation signal produced by impulses formed in a web reel or roll during reeling or winding and arising from relative movements of web layers and/or from damaging of the web is measured and optionally stored. The measured signal is stored in electrical form as a function of time, reel/roll diameter, or the length of the web. The stored values are used in the control of the formation of reel or roll or in subsequent unwinding, reeling or winding of the reel or roll.

  • Patent number: 5918830
Abstract: A reeling device including a reel drum supported on reeling rails and around which a paper web is reeled into a reel through a reeling nip defined between a set of belt rolls and the reel. The set of belt rolls extends in the cross direction substantially across the web width. A method for reeling or unwinding a paper web in which the paper web is reeled around a reel drum supported on reeling rails into a reel or unwound from the reel by means of a reeling nip.
