  • Patent number: 8097420
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to a method of diagnosing or predicting the development of lung damage and more particularly, to a method of diagnosing or predicting the development of alveolo-capillary membrane damage. The method of the present invention is useful inter alia for detecting lung damage or predicting the development of lung damage such as that caused by noxious agents or as an undesirable side effect resulting from exposure to a therapeutic agent and for monitoring the progress of lung damage.

  • Patent number: 7243494
Abstract: A hydraulic circuit for raising and lowering a load arm on a work machine is adapted to provide a ride control function which will cushion shocks through the load arm as the machine traverses rough terrain. The circuit includes a hydraulic ram that moves the load arm and a first hydraulic accumulator connected to a first chamber of a hydraulic ram. The accumulator provides a cushioning effect to the ram when the ride control function is engaged. The accumulator is located between a first control valve and a load hold valve of the circuit so that the load hold valve will hold the ram in position should there be any sudden pressure drop in or adjacent the accumulator. The accumulator can also be connected to a control surface of the load hold valve to simultaneously open the valve and cushion the ram. A second dedicated accumulator can also be introduced for this purpose if desired.

  • Patent number: 6472792
Abstract: A stator core for an electrical machine includes an annular yoke and a plurality of teeth spaced circumferentially on the annular yoke and extending radially therefrom, the spaces between the teeth defining circumferentially spaced winding slots. The teeth are formed as separate components from a soft magnetic powder material. Each tooth has non-decreasing cross-sectional dimensions in a direction towards a distal tip along a length of the tooth corresponding to a winding slot, and has the same or smaller cross-sectional dimensions along a proximal end of the tooth. Thereby, the tooth may be assembled with a core-back section of the annular yoke and is able to receive a coil before the assembling with the yoke.

  • Patent number: 5964117
Abstract: A method of forming a closed-end vessel by backward extrusion comprises providing an extrusion billet having a front surface with an axial recess and a body of an extrudable material positioned in the recess. Backward extrusion results in the formation of a closed-ended vessel, for example a pressurized gas cylinder, composed of the material of the extrusion billet with a weld bonded inner surface lining of the extrudable material.

  • Patent number: 5141339
Abstract: A brake shaft of a vehicle is rotatably supported in a housing by a pair of bush assemblies acting as plain bearings. Each bush assembly is composed of a cylindrical body with grooves in its inner periphery which open to one end of the body. The housing has a bore for introducing lubricant into the grooves. A flange at the opposite end of each body has a recess in which a multi-lip seal is fitted. The housing has recesses which receive the flanges, of the bodies and deformable lips on the bodies locate in the recesses and assist the seals to prevent the ingress of contaminants.

  • Patent number: 4333695
Abstract: A roller bearing comprising inner and outer annular ring members having confronting inner and outer spaced raceways, the inner ring member having an integral flange confronting the axial ends of the rollers of one row, at least a pair of rows of rollers separated by cages and in line contact with said bearing raceways, a guide flange confronting and guiding the rollers of the other row at the opposite axial end of the inner annular member, sealing means fastened at said one axial end to said outer annular member, characterized in that said guide flange is formed by a substantially cylindrical bearing component fixed in place by a detachable retaining member.
