    Abstract: A method for estimating a coefficient of friction for a surface relative to one or more tires in contact with the surface, the one or more tires mounted on a vehicle, is disclosed herein. One or more models may be selectively retrieved from data storage. At least one surface condition may be associated with each of the one or more models. Respective values corresponding to a coefficient of friction of the surface relative to the one or more tires in contact with the surface may be estimated based on at least the one or more models and at least one of the one or more operating events on, and a sensed motion of, at least one of the one or more tires. At least one output signal corresponding to the estimated coefficient of friction may be generated.
