Patent number: 10291481Abstract: A method of processing a model of a telecommunications network, the telecommunications network. The method includes dividing the network elements of the telecommunications network into a plurality of different groups, for a first of the group of network elements being modelled, loading computer program code representing the group of network elements being modelled into the computer memory and executing the computer program to model the first group of network elements within a first time period. For a subsequent time period the first group of network elements is represented by the amount of network services consumed on the one or more interfaces with the second group of network elements determined within the first time period, while loading into the computer memory computer program code to model the second group of network elements.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 2010Date of Patent: May 14, 2019Assignee: TEOCO CorporationInventor: Gerard Terence Foster

Patent number: 9763114Abstract: A method for assessing performance of a cell in a network in which data is passed between layers in a protocol stack implemented by the cell. The method comprises calculating a data efficiency of data passing through a physical layer in the protocol stack via one or more higher layers in the protocol stack based on a comparison of a number of physical resource data units allocated to that data at the physical layer with a data throughput of one or more of the layers of the protocol stack. The method further comprises calculating an average efficiency by averaging the data efficiency over a predetermined time and normalizing the average efficiency with respect to a predetermined efficiency so as to generate a normalized average efficiency. The method also comprises comparing the normalized average efficiency with a target threshold and adjusting the operation of the cell if the normalized average efficiency differs from the target threshold by greater than a threshold amount.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2012Date of Patent: September 12, 2017Assignee: Aircom International LTD.Inventors: Colin Gordon Bowdery, Gerard Terence Foster

Patent number: 6851231Abstract: A precast post-tensioned segmental pole system capable of supporting a load is provided. The pole system includes a plurality of pole segments that use connectors and strands to anchor them together. The strands extend within a cavity formed in the pole segments and are external to the wall structure of the pole segments. The strands may be coupled between both of the pole segments, or be anchored to a connector. The connector includes an upper piece that is coupled to one pole segment, and a lower piece that is coupled to the other pole segment. Upper and lower pieces interlock with each other to join the pole segments to one another. The strands are placed in tension so that pole system is capable of withstanding forces imposed by the load.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2002Date of Patent: February 8, 2005Inventors: Maher K. Patent number: 6842462Abstract: A General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) Accessed Extended Mobile Internet Protocol (EMIP) [G-EMIP] network is provided for wireless mobile device access to external packet data networks. Domains are defined to incorporate a subnet of standard GPRS and EMIP network entities accessed through a Domain Router. Packet access at the radio interface is provided using the base station portion of a GPRS network. Wireless link specific processing is relegated to this potion of the G-EMIP network. EMIP is utilized as a backbone network to provide mobility and service management and interconnection to external networks. A GPRS-IP Interworking entity (GII) interworks IP and GPRS protocols between GPRS and IP addressable network entities (i.e., translates messages of each protocol to corresponding messages of the other protocol). Mobility-related functionality is handled at the IP (network) layer.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 1999Date of Patent: January 11, 2005Assignee: Lucent Technologies Inc.Inventors: Ramachandran Ramjee, Thomas F. Patent number: 6498568Abstract: A pipeline communication system. The system uses the pipeline and the adjacent ground and includes branches with junctions. Governor modules and transformers/rectifiers form part of the network. Monitors periodically provide information to the network controller. The system control receives information by way of an outstation to provide two-way communication and control using the pipeline and adjacent ground as conductors. Typically, the information in the form of fast frequency shift keying modulation is superimposed on the cathodic pipe protection system.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 1999Date of Patent: December 24, 2002Assignee: Transco PLCInventors: David Austin, Koos Broekhuizen, Paul Beaumont Cordes, Gerard Terence Foster

Patent number: 4058866Abstract: A machine for assembling screw blanks and washers includes a rotatable feed disc which continuously feeds washers in succession along a first path, the feed disc having a plurality of notches formed around the periphery thereof, each notch intended to receive a single washer. A rotatable turret continuously conveys screw blanks in succession along a second path in a plane parallel and vertically above the first path. The turret and feed disc are continuously rotated in opposite directions and in timed relationship such that screw blanks are conveyed in timed relationship to the feed of washers such that each screw blank is in turn brought into axial alignment with a respective washer. The turret includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced clamping heads each of which receives and clamps an individual screw blank.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 1976Date of Patent: November 22, 1977Assignee: Linread LimitedInventor: Graham Terence Foster
