  • Patent number: 5094507
Abstract: Knock-down and stackable light-weight chairs of plastic and welded aluminum construction having replaceable side frame decorative inserts are disclosed. In knock-down chairs, decorative inserts which are releasably lockable to the side frames prevent their inadvertent removal during use to prevent loss or damage. In chairs constructed of welded aluminum, the removable decorative inserts enable stacking of plural chairs shipping in a single carton, as well as minimizing storage space by the ultimate user.

  • Patent number: 5039164
Abstract: A chair having a seat section, a base section and a support structure interconnecting the seat and base sections for rockably supporting the seat section relative to the base section is disclosed. The support structure includes a resilient member that is generally W-shaped, as viewed in plan, and generally U-shaped, as viewed in elevation. The resilient member includes first and second transversely spaced outer legs fastened to the seat section, and first and second inner legs positioned intermediate the first and second outer legs, when viewed in plan. The inner legs are fastened to the base section. In the preferred embodiment the base section includes upper and lower portions which are pivotable relative to one another. In this case the first and second inner legs are fastened to the upper portion of the base section so that the seat section may be swiveled relative to the lower portion of the base section.

  • Patent number: 4919487
Abstract: A chair structure is disclosed. The chair structure is provided with a chair seat section including first and second transversely spaced legs, a transverse cross brace fixed to and rigidly interconnecting the legs, first and second transversely spaced seat side support members having respective first and second end portions thereon, and a fabric extending between the seat side support members and forming a seat therebetween. The cross brace comprises an elongate member having a decorative outer side, first and second spaced apart end sections and an inner side. The inner side of the cross brace includes a support surface thereon for supporting the end portions of the seat side support members on the end sections of the elongate cross brace member, with the end portions of the seat side support members being substantially shielded from view, in front elevation, by the decorative outer side of the cross brace.

  • Patent number: 4869133
Abstract: A device which not only removes the stopper from a test tube or vacutainer without any human contact, but one which also stores and retains the removed stoppers is disclosed. The device has a container for receiving and retaining the removed stoppers which communicates with a stopper extractor. The stopper extractor has one extractor lip which bears against a first side of the vacutainer and a second extractor lip which engages an opposite side of the stopper such that relative pivoting movement between them exerts a force on the stopper to urge it out of the vacutainer. A spring device is attached to the stopper extractor and has a leaf spring which contacts one side of the vacutainer after it has been inserted into the stopper extractor. During pivoting movement between the stopper extractor and the test tube or vacutainer, the leaf spring is further displaced from its normal, at-rest position.
