Patent number: 7340790Abstract: Disclosed are systems, methods, devices and kits for dispensing laundry additive materials into the drum of an automatic washing machine as that machine is used to carry out a fabric laundering operation. To bring about such dispensing of additives, a lidded housing structure is placed within the drum of an automatic washing machine, an insert, containing one or more laundry additives in each compartment, is placed within the lidded housing structure, the lid is closed and the machine is run through the several stages of its laundering cycle. Selectively actuatable puncturing element are provided to optionally open at least one compartment of the insert upon closing of the housing structure lid, thereby dispensing the contents of that opened compartment into the washing machine drum as wash additive materials and/or to open one or more compartments of the insert later in the laundering cycle to dispense contents of those compartments into the washing machine drum as rinse additive materials.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 2004Date of Patent: March 11, 2008Assignee: Procter & Gamble CompanyInventors: Yousef Georges Aouad, Liben Hailu, Terence Graham Curtis, Lawrence Joseph Kelly, William Wayne Wichman, Jonathan Norman Robert Hodges

Patent number: 7172099Abstract: The present invention provides a fluid transfer fitment for controllably retaining a fluid in a reservoir in a leak-tight manner. This fluid transfer fitment can be used with a variety of fluid delivery mechanisms. The fluid transfer fitment has a cap portion, an engaging segment, a fluid transfer check valve and a vent check valve. The fluid transfer check valve of the fitment is located within the engaging segment of the fitment. The present invention also provides fluid delivery mechanisms, which can be used with a cleaning implement. The fluid delivery mechanisms can be used with a fitment having a cap portion, an engaging segment and a fluid transfer check valve.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 2003Date of Patent: February 6, 2007Assignee: The Procter & Gamble CompanyInventors: Paulus Antonius Augustinus Höfte, Gregroy Clegg Spooner, Terence Graham Curtis, Hoss Vong, Phillip Gene Nagel

Patent number: 7038154Abstract: The present invention provides an actuating device suitable for remotely actuating a tool which can be the fluid delivery mechanism of a cleaning implement. The actuating device has a flexible tape attached at one end to a spring-loaded spool mechanism connected to a trigger where the spring loaded spool mechanism is located within a housing for holding the device. The tape is threaded through at least one pole segment and is attached to a tool which can be actuated by a pulling or pushing motion of the tape. The present invention also provides a pair of electric cables which are attached at one end to the spring-loaded spool and at the other end to an electric tool or device such as a motor for driving a pump. An electric switch, which is located on the housing of a pistol-grip, is used to close the electric circuit formed by the pair of cables.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 2003Date of Patent: May 2, 2006Assignee: The Procter & Gamble CompanyInventors: Paulus Antonius Augustinus Höfte, Gregory Clegg Spooner, Terence Graham Curtis, Hoss Vong, Leonard Joseph Keller, Jr., Thibault Fayette

Patent number: 6213665Abstract: A hand held dosing and dispensing device for the pretreatment of fabrics is provided. The dosing and dispensing device has a hollow container for storing a liquid. The hollow container has at least one container wall and an inlet. The inlet includes an opening and an inlet wall which extends into the hollow container from the container wall of the hollow container. The inlet wall substantially encircles the opening of the inlet to prevent liquid discharge through the inlet during pretreatment of a fabric. A discharge is attached to the hollow container for dispensing the liquid therethrough for the pretreatment of fabrics. In addition, the opening can include a plurality of flexible and resilient tabs extending radially toward the center of the opening. The tabs are adapted to engage at least a portion of a bottle to secure the dosing and dispensing device to the bottle.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 1999Date of Patent: April 10, 2001Assignee: The Procter & Gamble CompanyInventors: Christophe Nicolas Degoix, Terence Graham Curtis
