    Abstract: The present subject matter generally concerns the detection of tire tread using a sensor attached to the underside of the wheel well of a vehicle. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to methods and apparatus for the detection of tread wear on a tire. The signal analysis used measures the tread wear on the tire and transmits that information. A system for determining tread wear of a tire includes a first wireless communication chip located in a sensor attached to the wheel well of the vehicle.
