  • Patent number: 10805580
Abstract: An example implementation may include a first device identifying a request from a second device for an instruction for aligning a satellite antenna. The first device may obtain satellite receiver data of a satellite receiver, responsive to the request. Based on the satellite receiver data, the instruction requested for aligning the satellite antenna is determined. The instruction includes determining a number of other satellite antenna angles for aligning the satellite antenna with other satellites, determining a satellite angle based on the other satellite antenna angles, and determining the instruction requested for aligning the satellite antenna based on the satellite angle. The satellite receiver data, including the instruction requested for aligning the satellite antenna, is provided by the first device to the second device.

  • Patent number: 10082530
Abstract: A system and method for testing an antenna feed to be incorporated into an operational antenna is disclosed. The system and method uses a scaled reflector with the antenna feed to permit testing that correlates well with a full sized reflector, yet permits testing in a quiet zone of a compact antenna test range. Embodiments are also disclosed for offset feed designs.

  • Patent number: 9680230
Abstract: An improved antenna reflector coating and a method for applying the coating is disclosed. A region of the reflector surface smaller than the entire reflective surface is identified and designated for hydrophobic treatment, and thereafter hydrophobically treated. Provision is made for identifying the region according to desired parameters and in consideration of multiple LNB embodiments.

  • Patent number: 9521378
Abstract: An example implementation may include a first computing device receiving, via a user interface, an input indicating a request for satellite receiver data, where the input further indicates a request for an instruction for aligning a satellite antenna. The first computing device may then transmit, to a second computing device, the request for the satellite receiver data, where the second computing device is communicatively connected to the satellite antenna. The first computing device may receive the satellite receiver data from the second computing device, and then cause an indication of the satellite receiver data to be displayed on a graphical display of the first computing device. The indication of the satellite receiver data may include an indication of the instruction for aligning the satellite antenna.

  • Patent number: 9451220
Abstract: A system and method for aligning an outdoor antenna reflector unit (ODU) with multiple satellites is disclosed. The method may rely on multiple satellites as alignment anchor points to reduce ODU alignment pointing error. The method may require at least three measurements of signal power at different angles for each satellite link to determine the ODU antenna pattern for each satellite link. A peak angle is then calculated for each satellite link based on the determined satellite link ODU antenna pattern. Once the satellite link peak angles are determined, the average peak angle can be calculated and used for aligning the ODU to the multiple satellites. The method may further reduce pointing error by using satellites transmitting within the Ka frequency band as alignment anchor points. The method may simplify ODU alignment by merely requiring an installer to adjust an ODU alignment screw based on the calculated average peak angle.
