Embodiments of the present disclosure may employ the unique characteristics of shape-memory materials to enable device access into the eye through the requisite small incision size, and via simple mechanical means either to create a template for surgeons to follow in order to create an appropriately-sized capsulotomy, or to create such a capsulotomy via cutting, tearing, or abrading the lens capsule.
