  • Publication number: 20080142227
Abstract: A method, system and apparatus associated with the production of hydrocarbons are described. The apparatus comprising a joint assembly comprising a main body portion having primary and secondary fluid flow paths, wherein the main body portion is attached to a load sleeve assembly at one end and a torque sleeve assembly at the opposite end. The load sleeve may include at least one transport conduit and at least one packing conduit. The main body portion may include a sand control device, a packer, or other well tool for use in a downhole environment. The joint assembly also includes a coupling assembly having a manifold region in fluid flow communication with the second fluid flow path of the main body portion and facilitating the make-up of first and second joint assemblies with a single connection. The coupling assembly may also include a torque spacer to help control fluid flow relationships.

  • Patent number: 7264061
Abstract: The invention concerns an external well packer (4, 4?, 4?) for a pipe string (2), and also a method of leading at least one line (18) seamlessly past at least one packer (4, 4?, 4?) along the pipe string (2). What is characteristic of the packer (4, 4?, 4?) is that it consists of a continuous inner packer ring (8) and a separate and continuous outer packer ring (10), which in the operating position encloses the inner packer ring (8) in a pressure tight manner. The fitting surface of at least one of the packer rings (8, 10) is provided with at least one through-going line slot (16, 16?), which in the operating position encloses a line (18) in a pressure tight manner. This allows continuous lines (18) to be stretched out past several such packers (4, 4?, 4?).

  • Publication number: 20060118296
Abstract: A flow arrangement (10, 12) for use in a well through one or more underground reservoirs, and where the arrangement (10, 12) is designed to throttle radially inflowing reservoir fluids produced through an inflow portion of the production tubing in the well, the production tubing in and along this inflow portion being provided with one or more arrangements (10, 12). Such an arrangement (10, 12) is designed to effect a relatively stable and predictable fluid pressure drop at any stable fluid flow rate in the course of the production period of the well, and where said fluid pressure drop will exhibit the smallest possible degree of susceptibility to influence by differences in the viscosity and/or any changes in the viscosity of the inflowing reservoir fluids during the production period.

  • Publication number: 20060048942
Abstract: An injection pipe string (4) in a well (2) for the injection of a fluid into at least one reservoir (6) intersected by the string (4), in which at least parts of the injection string (4) opposite the at least one reservoir (6) are provided with one or more outflow positions/-zones. At least one pressure-loss-promoting flow control device is provided to each outflow position/-zone. In position of use, the flow control device(s) control(s) the outflow rate of the injection fluid to a reservoir rock opposite said position/zone. The flow control device(s) is (are) disposed between an internal flow space (18) of the injection string (4) and the reservoir rock opposite said position/zone, and said device(s) is (are) hydraulically connected to at least one through-going pipe wall opening (28, 86) in the injection string (4), and to said reservoir rock. By using such flow control devices, the outflow profile of the injection fluid may be appropriately controlled along the injection string (4).

  • Patent number: 6464261
Abstract: A coupling for interconnecting two double-walled pipes, e.g. production filter pipes (10, 12). The coupling may have the shape of a connector (10A, 12A) divided into two parts, each part (10A, 12A) being attachable on the end portion of a double pipe (10, 12), the parts (10A, 12A) of the connector being interconnectable, preferably mutually screwable. Such double pipes (10, 12) have two concentric liquid passages, one through the inner pipe (14) and one through the annulus-like, concentric liquid passage 920) between inner pipe (14) and outer pipe (16). In order not to block the outer concentric liquid passage (20) at the joint place (10A, 12A) so that liquid flowing therewithin must be transferred to said smaller pipe through a valve, longitudinally extending, through-going flowing channels (18) have been formed in the joint area; said channels (18) may be distributed circumferentially, thus allowing continuous flow of liquid past the coupling area (10A, 12A).
