  • Patent number: 7054671
Abstract: The invention concerns generally the technological field of antenna arrangements in mobile stations. The invention also concerns a mobile station equipped with such an antenna arrangement. One idea of the present invention is providing a planar antenna in which the printed wired board (PWB) of the mobile station is used. The planar antenna has preferably an air gap between the radiator element (216) and the ground plate (218). In order to reduce the effects of the RF fields to other phone electronics there is a sheet of low reluctance material (245) for reducing the RF fields. The sheet of low reluctance material is so located that it covers an area of the printed wired board which is not covered by the radiator element or the ground plane of the planar antenna. The low reluctance material is preferably ferrite material, such as flexible ferrite sheet, and it may be attached to the display unit (208a, 208b) or on the PWB (234).

  • Patent number: 6340954
Abstract: An antenna (400; 600) for transmitting and receiving radio-frequency signals comprises a cylindrical coil conductor (601) having a turn A and a turn B and between them other turns. The pitch (x1) of turn A is unequal to the pitch (x2) of said turn B, and the pitches of the other turns between turns A and B are in the order of magnitude between the pitches of turns A and B.

  • Patent number: 6031496
Abstract: A combination antenna has two antenna parts (8; 9, 9a, 17) and a connector part (10) to connect them to a radio apparatus. The first antenna part is a whip antenna and the second antenna part comprises a planar surface and a conductive pattern (16) formed on it to transmit and receive radio-frequency radiation. When the antenna parts are mechanically coupled to the connector part the plane surface, which includes a radiating conductive pattern, is separated from said first antenna part. In addition, the second antenna part or another part of the construction may include a plane surface with a plating on it, which in the normal operating position protects the user's head from radiation.

  • Patent number: 5990848
Abstract: The invention relates to a particular structure of high-frequency antenna, which comprises a support element (1) provided with a cylindrical coil conductor which forms a helix (2). On the support element (1) there is formed, for example by means of a conductive coating, the electrical parts of the antenna, such as the attachment points (3b) for the helix and for other parts, such as feeder lines (4), radiators (5) or impedance matching devices. By varying the number and size of the helices (2), the number and form of the feeder lines (4) and radiators (5) and the quality of any impedance matching devices, it is possible without difficulty to obtain a very wide choice of different antenna structures. The feeder lines and radiators extend, at least in part, within the helix.
