  • Patent number: 9252647
Abstract: A connection device includes a body having a first and a second end, a first connector set at the first end, and a pin type connector set at the second end. The first connector set includes a first strip element and a second strip element, which form an electrical interface of the connection device. The pin type connector set includes a first element and a second element, and thus forms another electrical interface of the connection device, different from the electrical interface formed by the first connector set. The pin type connector may be projecting pins or hollows that receive pins. The first connector set is electrically connected to the pin type connector set. Thus, the connection device is adapted for electrically connecting a generator with an exciter having incompatible electrical interfaces.

  • Publication number: 20150165495
Abstract: A method for an abrasive cleaning of inner-cooled generator coil is presented. A shear hardening medium with suspended abrasive particles is filled into cooling passages of the generator coil. Hydraulic pressure is applied to the shear hardening medium which locks the abrasive particles into a matrix position. A flow is imparted to the shear hardening medium with the cooling passage which applies a shearing force to the shear hardening medium. The locked abrasives and the shearing force abrade an inner wall of the cooling passage and remove deposits and products of corrosion from the inner wall of the cooling passage. After removing the deposits and products of corrosion, the hydraulic pressure is released and the shear hardening medium is flushed out of the cooling passages.

  • Patent number: 7861435
Abstract: A method of determining an alignment of a floating seal for a turbo machine, including establishing a reference surface on a rotor of the turbomachine that is essentially perpendicular to an instantaneous centerline of the rotor, establishing a control surface that radially aligns a floating seal member that surrounds the rotor, providing an inflatable member arranged between a stationary portion of the turbomachine and a surface of the floating seal, inflating the inflatable member such that the inflatable member urges the floating seal firmly against the control surface, measuring an axial distance between the floating seal and the reference surface at a plurality of locations, determining a parallelism between the facing surfaces of the floating seal and the rotor based upon the plurality of measured axial distances, comparing the determined parallelism with a predetermined threshold, and adjusting an orientation of the control surface based upon the comparison.
