    Abstract: A method and apparatus for selecting a wireless reader action comprising the steps of a wireless communication identification device which is a wireless identification device transmitting output data; the wireless reader thereafter receives the output data, wherein the output data comprises an instruction set how to process the output data; and the wireless reader processing the output data and performing a suitable action in compliance with said output data instructions. The wireless identification device comprises at least one of a unique data address and a unique variable encryption key, which is transmitted as part of the instruction set. Authentication of data and resulting permission to decrypt the wireless identification device output data is transmitted to at least one of an authentication server or user API, which processes the data, and generates an authentication code where the wireless identification device output data corresponds with authentication criteria.

    Abstract: An electronic tag 10 is provided which includes magnetic sensing means 18 which is operable to sense a change in a magnetic field in order to program the tag 10. Typically, the tag 10 includes microprocessor based circuitry 14 including storage means 20, the microprocessor based circuitry 14 being programmable in response to activation of the magnetic sensing means 18. The tag 10 further includes transmitter means 12 connected to the microprocessor based circuitry 14 and operable selectively to transmit data sourced from the microprocessor based circuitry 14. Accordingly, the microprocessor based circuitry 14 may include a microcontroller which has one of its input ports connected to the contact of the magnetic sensing means 18, typically a reed switch or the like, for feeding data into the microcontroller. In response to activation of the reed switch, the microcontroller may enter into a programming mode, a monitoring mode, or the like.

    Abstract: A method of communicating data from a transmitter 12 to receiver 26 is provided. The method includes providing the transmitter 12 with a counter 16 and data to be communicated, and periodically adjusting a count of the counter 16 to generate modified data which is then transmitted. Typically, the count is incremented each time a signal is transmitted by the transmitter 12 which is typically in the form of an electronic tag. The invention thus extends to a transmitter 12 which includes storage means 14 for storing unique identification data for identifying the tag, and a counter 16 having a current count which is periodically adjusted in use. Further, the invention extends to a monitoring system 10 which includes a plurality of transmitters 12 as herein before described and a receiver 26 including analysis means 30 for analysing the transmitted signal 15.

    Abstract: A monitoring system 10 is provided which includes a primary electronic tag 12, a secondary electronic tag 16, reading apparatus 20, and a comparator 26. The primary electronic tag 12 includes primary identification data associated with the primary bearer 14 of the tag 12 and the secondary electronic tag 16 includes secondary identification data. The secondary identification data is associated with a secondary bearer 18 of the tag 16 and is also associated with the primary identification data. The reading apparatus 20 remotely reads the primary and secondary identification data and the comparator 26 compares the data and generates an output signal dependent upon the outcome of the comparison. The invention extends to a primary electronic tag 12 for use in monitoring movement of at least one secondary electronic tag 16. The invention also extends to a method of monitoring movement from a selected zone and a method of monitoring the use of at least one vehicle.
