  • Patent number: 6854941
Abstract: A clip nut is provided having a plastic body holding captive a nut. The body includes two aligned arms projecting from an aft section, each arm defining an aperture at a forward portion of the arm. The nut includes a base and a upstanding portion extending from the base that defines an internally threaded bore. The body further includes a nut cage positioned disposed about the aperture of the first arm. The nut cage includes an upper wall spaced above the first arm that defines a slot having a narrowed inlet and a recess aligned with the apertures of the first and second arms. The body is configured to readily and securely receive the nut. To insert the nut into the cage, the nut is forced against the nut cage such that the upstanding portion presses into and past the narrowed inlet. In this manner, the cage yieldably receives the nut without undue manipulation of either piece.

  • Publication number: 20030185653
Abstract: A quick connect fastener wherein the receptacle is adjustable to allow different stud types to be used and wherein absolute clamp-up is provided through repeated cycling. A spring loaded lock plate that captivates the quarter turn cross-pin in the locked position against the adjacent cam surface is provided. The lock plate is positioned within the receptacle and indicates the correct locked position at absolute clamp-up when the lock plate snaps over the cross-pin. Two ramps on the lockplate provide a positive “feel” when installing or removing the stud and provide the detent/lock feature. The cam comprises two helixed ramps leading to flat surfaces or plateaus for the cross-pin to ride up and tighten against. The plateaus are adjacent to detent recesses on the lock plate which provide the locking capability.

  • Patent number: 6010094
Abstract: A gallery retainer is provided having a axial bore through which is fitted a bushing. The bushing has radial slots which interface with a detent mechanism formed in an angular bore drilled through the axial bore wall from a rear face of the retainer. A rotation limiting mechanism is formed near the front face of the retainer in the bore. The retainer provides for maximization of material thickness at the retainer critical load bearing areas while reducing the overall material volume.
