Abstract: An antiviral composition has a supply of a chelating agent that chelates an alkaline earth metal ion, wherein the chelating agent is formulated in a rectal deposition formulation, and wherein the supply of chelating agent has an immediate bioavailability. Contemplated agents when rectally administered to a subject in an effective dose in vivo promote disintegration of a virus, reduction of atherosclerotic plaques and help reducing heavy metal concentration in a subject.
