  • Publication number: 20100206905
Abstract: A dual fluid cartridge for storing and dispensing fluids. With the disclosed dual fluid cartridge, a hand-held applicator may be used to dispense and mix two component end products (e.g., an adhesive) in unequal ratios. • Publication number: 20030048694
Abstract: A static mixer for mixing at least two materials wherein the mixer includes a conduit having interior walls and a central, longitudinal axis along which materials flow. The mixer has a number of baffles arranged inside the conduit and each baffle has at least two, planar webs that intersect one another and extend parallel to the flow direction wherein one web forms a rear fin extending in the material flow direction. In addition, the mixer has at least two, forward angled surfaces and at least two, rear angled surfaces that are connected by the two planar webs.

  • Patent number: 6484904
Abstract: A cartridge system for multi-component reactive viscous fluids which includes a plurality of syringe elements conjoined and discharging into an outlet having a matching plurality of outlet passageways therein. The cartridge has a frangible cap that seals the outlet passageways prior to use, is broken away from the outlet for dispensing and has plugs insertable into the passageways to reseal the cartridge after use. The plugs preferably have lead-in chamfers and a sealing ledge. Orientation device is provided to prevent cross-contamination upon resealing. A cooperating dispenser gun incorporates registration and a retention device to secure the cartridge in position and has an integral cap removal and retention tool.

  • Patent number: 5829639
Abstract: A dispenser for storing and dispensing two flowable materials, preferably comprising a single piece container having a driving member, a storage member having an discharge nozzle defining two separate passages and two cylinders each communicating with a separate one of said passages and a hinged member joining the driving member and the storage member by way of living hinges, the driving member defines two pistons located and sized to sealingly engage the cylinder when the driving member and the storage member are folded about the living hinges into engagement with one another; the cylinders being isolated from one another. When squeezing force is applied the driving member and the storage member act against one another to expel the materials through the passages of the discharge nozzle for blending of the ingredients upon exit from therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4850705
Abstract: The invention relates to motionless mixers and baffles thereof and includes a baffle having a pair of substantially symmetric opposing major surfaces generally helically twisted along a central longitudinal axis of the baffle and a first pair of substantially planar surfaces connecting the pair of major surfaces at one end of the baffle, one of the first pair of planar surface extending both substantially transversely and substantially parallel to the central longitudinal axis. The intersection of the first planar surface and one of the major surfaces forms an edge at the one end of the baffle. Such geometry enables a plurality of the baffles to be formed as a single insert unit by conventional injection molding techniques using only a pair of mold halves. The major surfaces are concave in cross-section normal to the longitudinal axis to form with a housing a pair of passages of generally ovoid (or elliptical) cross-section.

The intersection of the first planar surface and one of the major surfaces forms a knife-like edge at the one end of the baffle. Similar additional knife-like edges can be provided, a second knife-like edge on the one end of the baffle radially disposed on opposite sides of each of a pair of axes through a central longitudinal axis of the baffle to form leading edges of the baffle and a like pair of knife-like trailing edges on an opposite end of the baffle.

  • Patent number: 4093188
Abstract: Two or more fluids, particularly viscous fluids, may be thoroughly blended and homogenized with a static mixer and method using a mixing element which comprises two or more banks of stationary baffles arranged around an axis parallel to the overall direction of flow of the fluids to be mixed. The baffles in each bank of the element are inclined at an angle to the overall flow axis and at an angle to the baffles of adjacent banks so that fluid streams are guided through windows or apertures formed by abutting baffles along the interface between adjacent banks. Each bank includes a plurality of substantially parallel baffle plates spaced along the axis, and at least one of the banks has a second set of substantially parallel baffle plates spaced along the axis and alternating with the first set of baffles.
