  • Patent number: 5146205
Abstract: A security and display system for use with a retail item having a threaded bore. The system includes a base for supporting the retail item. The base is fixedly mounted in a display area and has an upwardly extending pedestal. A mounting device is provided, for removably mounting the item on the pedestal to permit inspection of the item. The mounting device has a fastener for preventing its removal from the item. At least one security cable is attached to the retail item and mounting device at one end and is securely mounted at its other end at a point remote from the display area. Potential customers have access to relatively free movement of the retail item without being able to remove the retail item from the display.

  • Patent number: 4620182
Abstract: A security device for use in retail stores for the prevention of retail theft, which includes an alarm mechanism which generates an alarm signal in response to electrical power being applied through a switch mechanism. The switch mechanism is controlled by a signal provided by a closed circuit mechanism. Whenever a closed circuit condition is created, for example, by cutting the cable which mechanically connects the retail item to the security device, electrical power is applied to the alarm mechanism. Thus, if a battery is used to supply electrical power, such battery is only drained during closed circuit conditions, maximizing battery life.

  • Patent number: 4598827
Abstract: A system for securing display items to a fixture or the like comprising a housing adapted to be secured to the fixture, a plurality of elongated cables for securing the display items to the fixture, each cable having means at one end securing it to the display item and detachably secured in the housing at its opposite end, means defining cable retention and release channel means in said housing for a plurality of said cables, said channel means having an enlarged entrance portion and being of a configuration to permit insertion and removal of said opposite end of any one of said cables whereby any one of said cables may be inserted or removed individually and locking means actuatable between a position blocking said entrance portion of said channel means and a second position permitting movement of cables from said channel means through said entrance portion.

  • Patent number: 4380097
Abstract: A product monitoring device including a releasable locking device adapted to be secured to a product and actuatable between locked and unlocked positions. The locking device consists of a pair of movable members, one of which mounts a bimetallic member consisting of bimetal elements having different temperature coefficients of expansion, the bimetal elements being separated by an insulator. The locking device includes a detent cooperatively associated with the bimetallic member to maintain the members in a locked position. The device uses an electrifiable key for heating the bimetallic elements to effect displacement thereof relative to the detent to facilitate movement of the members to an unlocked position. The device incorporates structural features which increase strength in operation, and further serve to make unauthorized opening and/or breakage of portions, with the intent of permitting separation from an article to which attached, more difficult.
