  • Patent number: 6217003
Abstract: A valve assembly including a valve housing having a fluid passageway extending through it. The fluid passageway has an inlet portion having a cross-section defined by a substantially annular inlet surface, an outlet portion having a cross-section defined by a substantially annular outlet surface, and an inner chamber portion defined by a substantially annular inner chamber surface, an inner wall, and an outer wall. The inner wall extends inwardly from the inner chamber surface to the inlet surface, and the outer wall extends inwardly from the inner chamber surface to the outlet surface. The inner chamber portion is positioned between and adjacent to the inlet and outlet portions. A valve member is located within the inner chamber portion and is movable between a closed position in which the fluid passageway is blocked, and an open position in which the fluid passageway is not blocked.

  • Patent number: 6045490
Abstract: A motorized treadmill that provides more fluid rotational motion of the treadmill belt, increases the life of the motor, provides more stable and reliable elevation of the treadmill, and provides automatic dampening for users of all weight ranges. The treadmill includes an external frame having first and second longitudinal side rails and at least one frame cross-bar extending therebetween, and an upright frame section that extends upwardly from a first end of the longitudinal side rails. First and second rollers are rotatably mounted on the external frame and positioned so as to be substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal side rails. The first roller is coincident with a first axis. A deck is mounted on the external frame and positioned between the first and second rollers and the longitudinal side rails. An endless belt is mounted around and extends between the first and second rollers for rotation therewith.

  • Patent number: 6044904
Abstract: A wellhead assembly provides a connection between a protruding wellhead pipe of a landfill and piping that leads to treatment, disposal, or recovery equipment, or the like. The wellhead assembly includes a first substantially hollow cylindrical member that has a first open end, a second closed end, and a receiving cavity therein. The closed end has an aperture through it that is smaller in diameter than the diameter of the protruding wellhead pipe, and the first substantially hollow cylindrical member is capable of slidably receiving the protruding wellhead pipe within the receiving cavity. The wellhead assembly also includes a second substantially hollow cylindrical member having a first open end and a second closed end. The first open end is coupled to the second closed end of the first substantially hollow cylindrical member, and is positioned so as to surround and enclose the aperture in the first substantially hollow cylindrical member.

  • Patent number: 5947151
Abstract: A dual containment valve is provided for use in conjunction with dual containment pipes. The dual containment valve includes an inner casing for fluid transport having a first open end, a second open end, a fluid passageway extending therebetween along its longitudinal axis, and an inner casing aperture therein; and an outer casing for leakage protection having a first open end, a second open end, an axial hole extending therebetween along its longitudinal axis, and an outer casing aperture therein. The inner casing is positioned within the axial hole in the outer casing so that the longitudinal axes of both are substantially aligned. The dual containment valve further includes a valve assembly for controlling the flow of fluid within the fluid passageway in the inner casing.

  • Patent number: 5370148
Abstract: A butterfly valve assembly of plastic material for use in a plastic piping system. The valve body is made from thermoplastic wherein the valve seat has a hard core of phenolic or another plastic and a resilient cover. The plastic valve body utilizes a retainer ring in its construction to maintain pressure on the valve seat which aids in sealing the valve closure thereagainst. The closure disc may be of metal or plastic depending on the service contemplated. The closure disc is retained in the valve body by a lower valve stem which is affixed in the valve body to permit free rotation of the closure disc thereon and an upper valve stem which includes a central retainer ring and is supported by a housing on the valve body. The housing has a bushing that seats against the retainer ring and a tubular plug which seats in the housing exerting pressure against the bushing, and thus, against the central retainer ring to assist in blow-out protection.

  • Patent number: 5139290
Abstract: A quick coupling for plastic pipe in which the ends of each plastic pipe are fitted with a metallic sleeve. The metallic sleeve is contoured with a hollow boss at one end and spaced apart from the boss is a radially extending circular groove. The metallic sleeve may be counterbored. The metallic sleeve may be embedded in the plastic pipe end by various heat forming techniques. Further, the plastic pipe may be internally threaded. Then a hollow plug of the same plastic as the pipe with external threads at one end is contoured to form a collar with the face of the unthreaded end. The collar is recessed to receive the boss. The metallic sleeve is fitted over the threads and seated with the boss in the recess of the collar. The plastic plug is then threadably engaged in the end of the plastic pipe and sealed with an o-ring. Two pipes, each having a metallic sleeve thereon, when aligned are coupled together by a mechanical clamp having keys which fit the circular groove of each pipe.
