  • Publication number: 20150257858
Abstract: A method and apparatus for moving malpositioned teeth to orthodontically correct positions and simultaneously positioning the lower dental arch of a patient relative to the upper dental arches that includes providing braces for securing to the upper and lower arches and providing a four section internal spring loaded telescopic rod for fastening a first end directly or indirectly at or near a lower molar and a second end directly or indirectly at or near an upper molar. The telescopic rod may resiliently urge extensively toward its elongated fully extended position to assist in dento-aveolar movement of the teeth for correcting the bite. The method and apparatus may also include providing an internal spring member for resiliently urging the telescoping rod extensively toward its elongated fully extended position to assist in dento-aveolar movement of the teeth for correcting the bite.

  • Patent number: 7578671
Abstract: An orthodontic device treats malocclusions using a telescopic rod fixed to a molar on the upper arch and a molar on a lower arch. The telescopic rod lengthens and shortens during opening and closing of the jaw. The telescopic rod encourages the patient to properly position their jaw causing adaptation thereby treating the malocclusions.

  • Publication number: 20060234180
Abstract: A pivot for use in a Herbst orthodontic appliance has a base attached to the attachment structure on a patient's tooth, a barrel extending from the base to pass through an eyelet on the end of telescoping members of the Herbst appliance, and a head retaining the eyelet on the barrel. The barrel includes a saddle that allows a range of angular motion for the telescoping members outside of a plane normal to the central axis of the barrel.
