  • Patent number: 4401826
Abstract: An improved method for the production of mercapto functional silanes is provided whereby reactions between haloalkyl silanes and thioureido compounds in the presence of ammonia are accelerated with tertiary nitrogen-containing compounds. In a preferred embodiment the reaction of 3-chloropropyltrimethoxysilane with thiourea is accelerated by N,N-dimethylformamide and other compounds to produce 3-mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane at lower temperatures and with increased yield.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 10, 1982
Date of Patent: August 30, 1983
    Assignee: General Electric Company
    Inventor: Terry G. Selin
  • Patent number: 4065482
Abstract: Siloxanediolate/p-dioxane complexes and processes for preparing the complexes. Sodium or an amalgam thereof is reacted with arylsilicondiola in the presence of p-dioxane to form the complexes. Complexes are useful in preparing the corresponding aryl polysiloxanediols.

  • Patent number: 3962160
Abstract: Novel organofunctional (ketoximino) silanes, such as acetoxyethyl tris(methylethylketoximine)silane, are provided which are useful as crosslinking agents chain-extending agents and chain-terminating agents in room temperature vulcanizable silicone elastomers. The room temperature vulcanizable compositions containing these novel organofunctional tris(ketoximino) silanes, which are stable free flowing fluids in the absence of moisture but cure to the rubbery, solid elastic state upon exposure to moisture, the method of making the same and the cured products thereof are also provided. The present room temperature vulcanizable compositions are particularly well suited for applications in conjunction with concrete (cement) substrates.

  • Patent number: 3941741
Abstract: Self-bonding, heat-curable silicone rubber composition comprising (a) a diorganopolysiloxane polymer (b) a curing catalyst and (c) a compound of the formula, ##EQU1## where R.sup.6 is selected from alkyl radicals and hydrogen, Z is seleccted from COO, phenylene, CO, CONH and CON-R.sup.2, R.sup.2 is selected from monovalent hydrocarbon radicals and halogenated monovalent hydrocarbon radicals, R.sup.5 is selected from unsaturated monovalent hydrocarbon radicals and unsaturated halogenated monovalent hydrocarbon radicals, G.sup.1 is selected from hydrogen, R.sup.2 radicals and R.sup.5 radicals. There may also be used in the above composition a process aid, a filler, and other ingredients commonly used in heat-curable silicone rubber compositions. In place of the maleate set forth above, and/or in addition to the maleate set forth above, there may be used a silylmaleate.
