  • Patent number: 9676045
Abstract: Electrodes, components, apparatuses, and methods for electrochemical machining (ECM) are disclosed. ECM may be employed to provide burr-free or substantially burr-free ECM of electrically-conductive workpieces (e.g. shrouds). As one non-limiting example, the electrically-conductive workpiece may be a shroud that is used as an electrical component in electronics boards. While the ECM components, apparatuses, and methods disclosed herein reduce burrs, ECM can provide imprecise machining and cause stray erosions to occur in the machined electrically-conductive workpiece. In this regard, the electrodes, components, apparatuses, and methods for ECM disclosed herein provide features that allow for precise machining of the machined electrically-conductive workpiece and also allow avoidance of stray erosions in the machined electrically-conductive workpiece.

  • Publication number: 20120263951
Abstract: Nanocomposite wires having conductivities higher than for metal wires were prepared by pulling tows from a supported array of multiwalled carbon nanotubes and sputter depositing metal on the tows, which resulted in transverse bridges between adjacent nanotubes in the tows. These transverse bridges of metal attached adjacent nanotubes to each other and provided paths for electricity to flow from one nanotube to another.

  • Publication number: 20120111253
Abstract: A watercraft includes a hull defined by hull frame members. One or more supports extend vertically from at least one hull frame member and above a topline of the hull to define a portion of a compartment of the watercraft, providing structural support for both the hull and the compartment. Other features include an upper deck cover including an integrated drainage system, and a composite hull design improving insulation, buoyancy, water-tightness, and rigidity of the watercraft hull. A method of making a watercraft providing the above features is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8094042
Abstract: A steering angle warning system comprising a rotation-measuring unit located on an aircraft, and an alarm unit. The rotation-measuring unit is arranged to output a first signal dependent on the steering angle between a nose landing gear of the aircraft and the longitudinal axis of the aircraft fuselage. The alarm unit is arranged to generate an alarm, in dependence on the first signal, when the steering angle is greater than a predetermined value, for example, 60 degrees. The rotation-measuring unit may also be arranged to perform a function in relation to an aircraft steering system, for example to indicate the steering angle to the pilot during ground manoeuvres.

  • Publication number: 20110206487
Abstract: A keg conveying trolley has a pair of wheels, a central post and a slide which carries a hook for grasping the keg rim. The slide is lockable at different keg heights. A foot plate assists in tipping the trolley to an inclined position for wheeling the keg from one place to another. The keg stacking version has a winch worked by hand or a cordless drill. The keg is supported by a rise and fall carriage. The carriage can be modified to be multitask. Variants can lift gas bottles on their side, truck tyres for placing on wheel studs and odd shaped loads.

  • Publication number: 20070243730
Abstract: A shielded electrical connection system has a pair of electrical connectors each comprising an inner insulator housing and an outer housing of conductive material. A shunt member of conductive material contacts conductive plug and socket portions of the respective electrical connectors when mated, to enhance electrical continuity between the outer housings. The shunt member is disposed in a shunt chamber and a connector seal seals the chamber at one end. A terminal attached to a shielded electric cable is disposed in a terminal passage in electrical connector that has a second shunt chamber at an inlet of the terminal passage. A second shunt member engages the conductive shield of the cable in the second shunt chamber and the outer housing of the connector. A cable seal seals an inlet of the second shunt chamber. The outer housing of electrical connector is adapted for connection to a conductive casing for grounding the shielded electrical connection.

  • Publication number: 20050046381
Abstract: A jump start protection circuit having a normally open switch and a resistor positioned in parallel intermediate to a battery and a jump start post. A controller manipulates the switch between an open position and closed position, the closed position connects the jump start post to the battery and the open position disconnects the jump start post from the battery. The controller measures voltages at the battery and jump start post and is capable of receiving one or more additional inputs. The controller closes the switch when acceptable jump start conditions are detected. The controller can open the switch or maintain the switch in an open position. The jump start circuit provides protection against attempts to charge a battery with incorrect polarity connections and attempts to charge a battery from a potentially hazardous higher voltage power source.

  • Patent number: 6185439
Abstract: In a digital switching network system wherein service measurements are periodically automatically collected, a user interfaces with the network via a Web browser to select those traffic counts of interest for on-demand sampling. The user designates whether the selected traffic counts are retrieved as a single sample or as a periodic sample. When the traffic counts are to be retrieved as a periodic sample, the user designates a period for the periodic sample. The system determines the locations where the traffic counts resides in the network, retrieves the traffic counts from their locations, and displays the traffic counts to the user.

  • Patent number: 6116085
Abstract: A coil of continuous steel tubing string is stretched along the ground. An elongate bundle of instrument lines, including thermocouples and pressure sensor wiring, is threaded into the bore of the tubing string. The instrument lines are landed at multiple spaced apart measurement points along the string. The string and the contained bundle are cut at pressure measuring points. A tubular sub having a side port is supplied for each point. One set of cut line ends is threaded through the sub and reconnected with the other set. A pressure sensor is inserted in the string at the cut point and connected with pressure sensor wiring and the port. This process is repeated along the tubing string. The product is a continuous tubing string housing a plurality of pressure sensor assemblies connected to ports along the string and a plurality of thermocouples operative to measure temperature at points along the string.

  • Patent number: 3958266
Abstract: A deep depletion insulated gate field effect transistor is made in a silicon layer on a sapphire substrate, so that its threshold voltage is relatively independent of the thickness of the silicon layer. The silicon layer has two parts, namely, a lower part adjacent to the sapphire substrate which is relatively lightly doped, and an upper part, preferably formed by ion implantation, having a doping concentration on the order of about 2 .times. 10.sup.15 atoms/cm.sup.3.
