  • Patent number: 9099008
Abstract: A motion platform for use with a video simulation system is described. The platform is configured to provide simultaneous roll-axis and yaw-axis motion about a pivot point for simulating a aircraft environment. Additionally, the motion platform is configured to achieve motion using a single linear actuator, and thus is provided at a significantly reduced cost compared to conventional motion platforms. Other benefits of the motion platform include improved power efficiency, reduced weight for increased portability, and reduced maintenance due to only one linear actuator driving the system.

  • Patent number: 6195820
Abstract: A hand table assembly includes a platform having a longitudinal central axis and a platform attachment apparatus for coupling the platform to a patient support deck generally in a horizontal plane and at a 90° angle. The platform attachment apparatus illustratively includes a first member configured to be mechanically coupled to an inboard end of the platform and a second member configured to be mechanically coupled to a side rail of an articulatable back section of the patient support deck. The first member is pivoted relative to the second member about the longitudinal central axis of the platform such that the platform remains generally parallel to the floor when the articulatable back section is articulated.

  • Patent number: 6119720
Abstract: A flood control device measures fluid flow into a house or building and shuts off the fluid flow if measured flow conditions indicate an overly high consumption due to a leak, break, or other abnormal condition which is present in the plumbing system of the house or building.

  • Patent number: 5979493
Abstract: A flood control device which measures the volume of fluid delivered in a continuous steady flow to a house or building and which shuts off the fluid flow if a preset maximum limit is reached, indicating overly high consumption due to a leak, break or open faucet in the plumbing of the house or building. The flood control device includes a learning mode, which measures and stores information about the flow of the liquid through the flood control device.

  • Patent number: 5452678
Abstract: The invention is directed to a boat having a buoyant lower portion and a plurality of upstanding support members connected to the lower portion. The top for the boat includes two end rails, two side rails respectively connected to the end rails, and a roof extending between and connected to the side rails and end rails. The side rails are comprised of a metal extrusion defining a first channel which is generally U-shaped and opens in a generally downward direction. The upstanding support members are received within the first generally U-shaped channel. In another aspect of the invention, the two side rails comprise an extrusion including a curved intermediate portion having a convex exterior profile. The roof is attached at one edge of the curved intermediate portion. In yet another aspect of the invention, the side rail comprises an extrusion including a recess which receives at least one of the upstanding support members.

  • Patent number: 5431569
Abstract: A motion simulator uses an existing personal computer and off the shelf software to physically simulate and control the motions of a computer generated vehicle. The motion simulator is manually powered by the user and includes a control stick connected to an input to the computer whereby movement of the control stick is translated into movement of the computer generated vehicle. A rigid control arm connects the control stick to a base unit and to a cockpit frame to move the cockpit frame relative to the base unit as the control stick is moved. The control stick also contains buttons which provide additional inputs to the computer generated vehicle. Foot operated pedals are also connected to the computer program and to the cockpit to move the cockpit in conjunction with movement of a computer generated vehicle. A throttle lever unit is also connected to the computer to control the computer generated vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5208928
Abstract: A surgery table is provided in which a patient support portion may be tilted about a longitudinal and a lateral axis and in which torso and leg supporting portions of the table may be pivoted relative to a trunk supporting portion. A new headrest locking mechanism is disclosed whereby supporting ball and socket connections for the headrest may be locked in position with a minimum of applied torque force. In addition, a lift mechanism incorporating telescoping members is provided whereby a large variation in table height may be obtained.

  • Patent number: 5037053
Abstract: The present invention provides a support arm for optical accessories such as are used during the examination of eyes for determining the corrective eyeglass lens required. The support arm is supported by a vertical support post which defines a first axis about which the arm may be pivot. The support arm further includes a first hub portion adjacent to the support post and a second hub portion distal from the support post wherein a vertical mounting shaft extends from the second hub portion for supporting an optical accessory. A parallelogram structure extends between the first and second hub portions such that the second hub portion may be moved vertically relative to the first hub portion about a second horizontal axis located at the first hub portion while maintaining the mounting shaft in a vertical position.
