Patent number: 5457849Abstract: A detachable dolly for moving heavy electronic equipment employs a mounting bracket and a wheel assembly, the mounting bracket having a support plate and a mating flange. The mounting bracket is secured to the equipment by the support plate, having at least one lifting dowel, and at least one mounting bolt. The wheel assembly has a wheel mounted within a wheel bracket and a rotation adjustment mechanism for raising and lowering the wheel and is detachably engaged with the mating flange on the mounting bracket by the use of a mating member. The mating member is movably coupled with the adjustment assembly such that when the mating member is engaged with the mating flange, rotation of the adjustment assembly serves to vertically raise or lower the equipment.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 1993Date of Patent: October 17, 1995Assignee: Tandem Computers IncorporatedInventors: Terry L. Patent number: 4836431Abstract: A tractor is provided with an endless belt which travels in a triangular path and a drive shaft located well below the level of the paper path. The tractor body has both an inner and outer body portion, each of which contains a journal bearing for support on the support shaft. An adjustable torsion spring lock is provided on the outer body portion and surrounds the support shaft to allow for easy locking adjustment of the axial location of the tractor on the support shaft. A front and rear closeable panel are provided along the document feed path. Only the front panel need be opened during feeding while both front and rear panels may be opened to clear the feed path during advancement jam. Two mirror image features are provided at the entrance of the feed path on either body portion such as to cover document pins located on the belt path and thereby decrease likelihood of injury to an operator during feeding operations.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 1988Date of Patent: June 6, 1989Assignee: Dataproducts CorporationInventors: Gregory Hirth, Terry L. Branson

Patent number: 4587647Abstract: The spindle for a disk drive comprises a dish-like hub for centering a removable disk-like recording media and a magnet chuck for clamping the recording media against an axial position reference surface on the hub. To stabily center the recording media on the spindle to provide a reference surface for controlling the axial positioning of the media, the hub has a central conical post which extends axially of the spindle beyond the plane of a radially displaced annular rim or flange. The post narrows toward its free outer end with a fixed taper, so that the recording media seats thereon and makes interference contact therewith before reaching the plane of the rim. To clamp the disk to the hub and to seat it against the rim, there is a magnetic chuck comprising an annular magnet which is disposed between the post and rim and a strike ring which is engaged with or embedded in an inner circumferential portion of the disk for deflecting the recording media into contract with the rim.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 1983Date of Patent: May 6, 1986Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: David W. Patent number: 4536096Abstract: A print head carriage assembly is provided which is especially suitable for use in a thermal dot matrix character printer. The assembly includes a belt, which in one embodiment is formed of laminations of film. The belt is formed into a loop with a free end by a tensioning device; the belt loop tautly passes around a pair of guides, one of which is bidirectionally rotatable to transport a print head clipped to the loop between the two guides and across a platen. The control signals to the print head are passed via conductors affixed to the belt from the free end of the belt to the print head.Type: GrantFiled: December 26, 1979Date of Patent: August 20, 1985Inventor: Terry L. Patent number: 4425046Abstract: An improved multicolor ribbon cassette system for use with a printing mechanism. A ribbon cassette is carried on a plate which is pivotally connected to a shuttle mechanism. The plate rotates about an axis which is perpendicular to a printing medium and the portion of the ribbon adjacent the printing mechanism. The pivot plate is tilted up or down to position a different part of the ribbon in alignment with a printing mechanism. The configuration of the device is such that the ribbon will remain parallel to the printing medium as it is tilted. The position of the pivot plate is controlled by means of a barrel cam driven by a stepper motor. The stepper motor is controlled by a logic circuit. An optical sensor is also connected to the logic circuit to determine whether a single color or multicolor cassette is in position.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 1982Date of Patent: January 10, 1984Assignee: Dataproducts CorporationInventors: Arthur C.
