Patent number: 7175075Abstract: An automated banking machine includes a display device in an upper housing portion and a currency dispenser in a (lower) chest housing portion. A cooling system within the machine housing is operative to cool air in the housing. The cooling system includes temperature sensors, an air duct, a blower, and an air cooling device. The duct extends between the separated chest portion and the upper portion. The chest portion houses the blower, which is operative to move air through the duct. A controller can operate the air cooling device to maintain the air temperature in both the upper portion and the chest portion within a predetermined temperature range.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 2004Date of Patent: February 13, 2007Assignee: Diebold Self-Service Systems division of Diebold, IncorporatedInventors: Paul D. Magee, David Barker, Patrick Ryan, Donald W. Harry, Richard E. Dunlap, Gerald T. Sedlock, Terry L. Schreffler, Terry E. Doll, Richard W. McCracken, Walter J. Szabat, Tim E. Kerstetter, Darling D. Patent number: 6945456Abstract: An automated banking machine (10) includes a lockable first fascia portion (20) which when unlocked enables access to a chest lock input device (104), inputs to which enable opening a chest door (18) of the machine. Opening the first fascia portion also enables access to an actuator (116) which enables moving a second fascia portion (22) for conducting service activities. A baffle structure (164) is positioned on the housing adjacent the second fascia portion to enable cooling air flow within the housing of the machine and to prevent the introduction of moisture into the housing. A controller (72) in the machine selectively illuminates light emitting devices (118, 126) for purposes of facilitating user operation of the machine. Servicing the machine is facilitated through use of a portable diagnostic article (98) which enables the controller to access diagnostic data stored in memory.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 2003Date of Patent: September 20, 2005Assignee: Diebold Self-Service Systems a division of Diebold, IncorporatedInventors: Paul D. Magee, David Barker, Patrick Ryan, Donald W. Harry, Richard E. Dunlap, Gerald T. Sedlock, Terry L. Schreffler, Terry E. Doll, Richard W. McCracken, Walter J. Szabat, Tim E. Kerstetter, Darling D. Patent number: 6871602Abstract: A secure enclosure (10) for an automated banking machine includes a chest portion (12) and a moveable door (14). The door has mounted thereon a locking bolt work mechanism (24) which is operable to secure the door. The bolt work mechanism includes a drive cam (40). The drive cam is able to be locked in a predetermined position by engagement with a member (35) of a lock (34). The drive cam is connected to an idler cam (50) by a cam link (52). The drive cam is also connected to a locking bolt (60) by a drive bolt link (54). The idler cam is also connected to the locking bolt by an idler bolt link (56). Movement of the drive cam enables movement of the locking bolt between extended and retracted positions.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 2003Date of Patent: March 29, 2005Assignee: Diebold Self-Service Systems a division of Diebold, IncorporatedInventors: Richard W. McCracken, Scott A. Mercer, Mark Bartolomeo, Terry L. Schreffler, Michael Suteu
