Patent number: 7404988Abstract: Refinishing an exterior automotive lens having a damaged exterior surface in situ using a continuous movement and oscillating motion, with first, a 320 grit sanding disc, next a 600 grit sanding disc and finally a 1500 grit sanding pad while flushing the surface with water to prevent melting of the surface. Buffing the surface with a polishing compound until a high gloss is achieved. Finally, coating the surface with a transparent ultraviolet hardenable coating material, and hardening it by exposure to an ultraviolet light source. This method is accomplished using an oscillating tool having a remotely located drive.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 2004Date of Patent: July 29, 2008Inventor: Terry Mitchell Kuta

Patent number: 5870867Abstract: A wall system which can be reconfigured and reused as needed, and which provides improved fire resistance and acoustical resistance, includes a plurality of edge connected panels having a solid structural core, a plurality of spaced apart structural studs attached to opposite faces of the panels, and a plurality of cover panels attached to outboard faces of the studs. The solid structural core comprising off-set gypsum panels forming a lipped edge which is adapted to connect to an adjacent solid core wall panel in overlapped interlocking relationship whereby improved acoustical and fire insulating properties are achieved.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 1996Date of Patent: February 16, 1999Assignee: Steelcase Inc.Inventor: Terry Mitchell

Patent number: 5822935Abstract: A reconfigurable wall system includes a solid-core wall which is comprised of a plurality of solid-core wall panels arranged in two adjacently abutting vertical layers. Each of the adjacently abutting layers of the solid-core wall comprises a plurality of solid-core panels arranged in edge-to-edge abutment. The abutting edges form vertical seams. The vertical seams in each of the layers of the solid-core wall are laterally offset from the seams in the adjacent layer to eliminate gaps through which light and sound can penetrate or leak. A plurality of vertical studs are disposed on opposite faces of the solid-core panel. Each of the studs is aligned with a stud on the opposite face of the solid-core wall, and a plurality of horizontally spaced apart fasteners extend through the solid-core wall and connect the aligned studs on opposite sides of the solid-core wall. A plurality of wall covering panels are mounted on the vertical studs.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 1996Date of Patent: October 20, 1998Assignee: Steelcase Inc.Inventors: Terry Mitchell, James D. Houda, Gary S. Juhlin

Patent number: 5685461Abstract: An apparatus that consistently dispenses a predetermined volume of granular material into a receptacle, e.g., a coffee cup. The apparatus including container, guide, housing of three integral horizonal sections, plunger, spring and pin. Container stores granular material, e.g., sugar. Directly below container and secured tightly thereto cylindrical guide substantially same diameter as container neck and having vertically disposed opening therethrough. Guide can have funnel for directing granular contents toward opening. Directly below guide and tightly secured thereto is cylindrical housing. Upper section has guide way and stepped down opening in housing wall. Opposite this opening is pin partially embedded into housing wall and projecting into the guide way. Middle section of housing has vertically disposed outlet offset guide opening. Lower section of housing is substantially deep and has at least one perforation for directing steam out of housing.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 1995Date of Patent: November 11, 1997Inventor: Terry Mitchell

Patent number: 5646804Abstract: In a thin film magnetic head comprising a magnetoresistive sensing element (MRE) located inwardly from the head face, a first section of a broken flux guide extending inwardly from the head face to overlie one peripheral edge portion of the MRE, and a second section overlying an opposite peripheral edge portion of the MRE, the space overlying the MRE between the flux guide sections is filled with a poller such as a photoresist, providing a smooth surface for a test/bias conductor, reducing shorts due to inadequate step coverage, and providing mechanical stress relief, leading to improved stability of the MRE.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 1991Date of Patent: July 8, 1997Assignee: Philips Electronics North America CorporationInventors: Todd Backer, Arthur Calderon, Wei Cheng Hsie, William P. Wood, Terry Mitchell

Patent number: 5247414Abstract: Thin film magnetic head structure includes digital read/write heads and analog read heads integrated on a single substrate. The "wrap around pole effect" is reduced or eliminated by having the thicknesses of the digital lower flux guides and the analog read gap-defining layer approximately the same, resulting in improved signal output from the digital read heads. The structure is useful in cassette decks designed to play both digital and analog compact cassettes.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 1991Date of Patent: September 21, 1993Assignee: North American Philips CorporationInventors: Terry Mitchell, William P. Patent number: 4936106Abstract: A retractable temperature control for refrigeration units includes a control panel pivoted for movement between an extended, accessible position and a retracted position in which it is enclosed within one of the insulated walls of the unit. Mounted on the panel are two operators, one of which controls the temperature of a thermostat and the other of which controls the position of a damper. Adjustment of the operator associated with the thermostat controls the temperature of one compartment in the refrigeration unit and adjustment of the other operator controls the position of a damper, and in turn controls the differential temperature between the two compartments provided by the refrigeration unit. The thermostat and the damper control are structured so that movement of the control panel between the retracted and extended positions does not affect the adjustment thereof.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 1989Date of Patent: June 26, 1990Assignee: White Consolidated Industries, Inc.Inventors: Sammie C. Beach, Jr., Donald J. Olsen, Edward P. Wuesthoff, Terry Mitchell

Patent number: 4660905Abstract: The present invention comprises a mounting mechanism for releasably mounting a drawer unit under a work surface, wherein the drawer unit comprises a drawer enclosed in a drawer casing. The mounting mechanism comprises an elongated mounting bracket that is mounted transversely on the underside of the work surface. A mating upper drawer casing flange on the drawer casing faces the mounting bracket flange and fits over the mounting bracket flange when the drawer casing is mounted. A releasable retaining means holds the drawer casing flange in overlapping relationship with the mounting bracket flange. Additional drawer units may be releasably mountable on the underside of each drawer unit immediately above it.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 1984Date of Patent: April 28, 1987Assignee: Trendway CorporationInventors: John P. Patent number: 4601247Abstract: A one-piece, resilient fastener clip especially useful for securing furniture shelving, and particularly metal shelving, to side supports via headed studs extending from the supports. The clip is preferably formed from spring steel and includes a pair of resiliently interconnected flanges for securing the clip to a downwardly extending end flange on the shelf. The flanges preferably include slots for slidably receiving a stud, inclined ramp means to draw the shelf toward the support, and a tab for holding the clip on the shelf. The clip allows the shelf to rest on the stud and includes releasable locking means in the form of a third flange resiliently interconnected with one of the other flanges and having a locking aperture therein which is receivable over the stud head. The clip pulls the shelf toward its support with a maximum force when the locking aperture is received over the stud head.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 1984Date of Patent: July 22, 1986Assignee: Modular Systems, Inc.Inventors: Montgomery J. Welch, Terry Mitchell, David H. Hodge
