The assembly slide is withdrawn from the second backiron so that the second backiron is attracted toward the first backiron and spacer posts are inserted into post holes on the second backiron. A method for assembling a magnet assembly using an assembly slide to support a second backiron above a first backiron and withdrawing the slide from the second backiron to assemble components.

The set of incrementally sized pins have incremental diameter dimensions to provide a selection of pins for insertion through plate hole and platform hole to match the dimension of the pin relative to the actual plate hole dimension to limit movement of the plate and magnet during measurement to reduce measurement errors.

Retainer members are operably coupled to the assembly blocks and aligned relative to the nest base to retain plate relative to nest base for assembly. The assembly blocks are movably coupled to the base to operate between a retracted position and an advanced assembly position. In the advanced assembly position, the first and second assembly blocks being aligned with the spacer nest supporting spacers for assembling the magnet assembly.

    Abstract: A high energy magnet and backiron assembly of an actuator assembly of a storage disc. Multiple magnet segments are bonded together to form a high energy composite magnet. The high energy composite magnet is bonded to a backiron to construct a higher capacity actuator motor. The composite magnet is bonded to a backiron via a bonding assembly which includes magnet and backiron nests. Retainers are included to secure a composite magnet in the magnet nest and a backiron in the backiron nests. Retainers provide sufficient pressure to counteract the attraction force between the magnet supported in the magnet nest and the backiron in the backiron nest. The magnet and backiron nests are coupled to a base of the bonding assembly and operate between a non-operational position and a bonding position. In the non-operatiornal position, the magnet nest and backiron nest are supported a spaced distance apart.

    Abstract: A flux sensitive device for creating electrical signals from magnetic flux produced by a magnetic piece has a first member defining a surface for sliding the magnetic piece. A conductive trace and a backiron are located proximate the first member such that the conductive trace is between the first member and the backiron. The position of the conductive loop is fixed relative to the backiron and the first member. The backiron forms a magnetic flux path with the magnetic piece and the conductive trace creates an electrical signal when magnetic flux crosses the conductive trace.
